Kamui Kobayashi, dans la Toyota #7, a battu très largement le record de tour de piste sur le circuit de la Sarthe (dans sa configuration actuelle) avec 3'14"791 lors de la séance 2 des essais qualificatifs jeudi soir au Mans.

I saw Kobayashi flying in front of eyes right before the Dunlop chicane. I was amazed how much stable the car is. Some past LMP1s used to dance on that hard braking and fight the oversteer and understeer on the chicane. But that Toyota have so much grip and downforce, it's unbelievable ! I knew what I saw would be a fast lap. 3.14... Damn, still can't believe it !

Moi je demande une victoire de Toyota (voiture n°7) avec Kobayashi pour finir les 24 heures et célébrer directement dans la voiture le premier titre de Toyota mais surtout pour venger Nakajima (le pilote qui conduisait la Toyota maudite l'année dernière à 3 minutes de la fin des 24 heures)
