You are right, actually. I have not been to Golden Gai before. Now that you point it out, though, that makes a lot more sense!

The biggest difference I've noticed is that interestingly, real life Kabukicho seems to be emptier. I know it's probably more populated at night, but still in the Yakuza games, the streets were always filled with pedestrians, often so much so, that you couldn't move without bumping into someone.

Videogames are also a great way to promote tourism. Some people call this digital tourism too. When i play Yakuza series and Persona 5, i feel a great urge to visit Tokyo for real and i think there are a lot of people who feel like me in the world. It's not like seeing it on TV. You live in an imitation of that place when you play a videogame. I think It's so cool to visit the place where you see in a videogame also in real life
@LordYggdrasill4 жыл бұрын
Cool, exactly what I wanted to see: the Champion District! 😄
@slightlytwistedagain4 жыл бұрын
I'm delighted to see the real Champion District, but also a little disappointed that it's not as expansive as it is in game (though it's shrunk and lost a street since the jump to the Dragon Engine so I guess it's more in line with the real area now). I'm hoping in the future that RGG Studios expands Kamurocho a little bit further on the outskirts so we can walk around the red light district and make the underground areas that are in Yakuza 4 explorable again. They've got a escalator placeholder just outside the Millennium Tower so I'm hoping a underground section is going to available in a future game. Making Kamurocho more interconnected with more buildings to explore is way more interesting to me that going to a new city.
@ancientflounder4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I’d like to see Kamurocho get expanded upon and have some extra density to it. And have those extra areas feel more important. I liked the additions in Yakuza 4, but the parking garage always felt half-baked. There wasn’t much reason for it, beyond the few things you could do there. Maybe in a Judge Eyes/Judgment sequel? That could be a good way to expand the map and integrate those changes into later Yakuza games.
@slightlytwistedagain4 жыл бұрын
@@ancientflounder Personally I'm hoping for a Akiyama game as the character has so much potential. I'm actually surprised RGG Studios haven't done one yet but with how Yakuza 6 ended, he can do his own thing now that he's no longer Kiryu's co-protagonist.

I would definitely be down for a game starring Akiyama. 🙂

One of the things about Yakuza that we have to remember (pretending it was a real "alternate universe") is that the events of the game mean changes would happen that didn't happen in "our world". After all, we don't have Majima Construction.

great job man, really, i watched it with a pleasure comparing your stuff with Yakuza Kiwami 2, the details is amazing, i recognized these streets in Ryan Celsius before this, japanese streets is so beautiful and these bars for a couple of people haha it's very funny, thanks for this video, you made the best comparison)) 11:43 YK2 at the night on same spot looks very similar - imgur. com/a/4FqlKu5
@ancientflounder4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words. :) That does look extremely similar. That's one of the reasons I enjoy the Dragon Engine games so much, despite the changes it brought. RGG Studio have really made sure that the in-game maps feel a lot more like real life.

Great video ! The vibes are overall pretty similar , after looking at the place in google earth the biggest difference between the game and real life seems to be the west park area , in the game the park area is huge and to the north east while in real life the part is smaller and to the north west .

Praying that the Tokyu Kabukicho Tower (Which replaced the Tokyu Milano and the Bannam VR building) will have some prominence in Yakuza 8. Sounds like a good place for a boss rush or final boss dungeon.

Sorry about that - it was a bit of a challenge to get decent footage in-game to accompany the real life footage. Layout and scale differences between the two made hard (at least for me) to get them to time up properly.
