कन्यादान का अर्थ, विग्रह, इतिहास व महत्त्व (Meaning, etymology, history and importance of Kanyadaan)

१) दान gift, donation, अथवा भीख नहीं है
२) कन्यादान = कन्या + दान (कन्या + आदान नहीं)
३) कन्यादान मध्ययुग से नहीं प्रारम्भ हुआ, गृह्यसूत्र-रामायण-महाभारत में वर्णन है
४) कन्यादान विधि में दुलहा वचन देता है वह पत्नी के साथ धर्म, अर्थ, और काम में अतिचार/अतिक्रमण नहीं करेगा

Having had opportunity to work with lot of girl students in age group of 20-25 these are below reasons why girls are not happy with many traditions. Girls don't like this is because unlike boys their responsibility towards their parents is not seen favorably by society. This goes to gotra change as well as boys get to keep gotta at time of birth but girls give up. It also goes to last rite and cremation rites as girls are not looked right person to do so even in 2021. Girls don't live with their own parents like boys do though things have changed in last 70 years. Women in general are not allowed to initiate Pooja or havan unless they follow tantric path or Arya samaj. These all are inter linked and this causes girls a psychological stress. That is all .

Well this is a good doubt! But you should know very well that the ritual of Kanyādāna is not the first ritual! At the first 'the Kanyā' gets to meet the Purusha and after knowing him a little, and after some time when all the things are full and final, then only the whole sequence of rituals which are to be performed in the Vivāha beings and 'Kanyādānam' is done at the end. So here the disagreement of Kanyā (that I will not go there, etc) cannot happen 😂 because Kanyā knows the Purusha and also loves him. Hope my point is clear.
