You are right.Actually almost same thing has been used abroad to go up and repair todays tall lamp posts. But very tall posts do not have same diameter through out and it is more at bottom and less as the height goes up.So modifications needed to automatically vary the hold,with flexibility. Mow they have cradle like standing one,which works like a lift drawing power by a wire. Heavy load needs huge power and a storage battery will be too heavy and bulky.

Excellent invention. But, safety is the main concern as long areca trees cannot take weight over 50 kgs including machine plus human being. Think, without human being onboard using remote controlled climbing up/down machine with equipments for spraying pesticides, harvesting and collecting areca nuts at the top of the tree rather gathering on ground.

The tree is very straight. For coconut trees that are sometimes curved this machine will not work. If it will then please let me know.
