I agree. They do look in bad shape and make me feel sorry for them. But can Ukraine absorb an infinity of defections and POWs while in desperate straights itself? I am glad Ukraine is taking decent care of prisoners but it must be galling for any Ukrainian, knowing the way Putin's are abusing Ukrainians In Russia, in defiance of the Geneva convention.

Not necessarily. You don't know what going on truly. Just speculation. If they didn't fight in the beginning their own people would shoot them in the back. They surrendering was the only way to survive. Thats the difference between soldiers from Russia and soldiers from Ukraine. If you want to understand Ukrainians vs Russians think of star trek.
