I have very strange feelings about the Vampire Knight. On the one hand, I just hate the ending of the original manga and I hate what happens in the sequel. I felt too much pain while reading this. But on the other hand, Zero is one of my most favorite characters not only in Vampire Knight, but also among other anime, and I really like a couple of Kaname x Zero. And that's why I can't stop coming back to this anime, even if it broke my heart. The chemistry between Kaname x Zero was better than the chemistry between Yuki x Karame or Yuki x Zero. I still often reread my favorite fanfiction with this ship. Unfortunately, there are not so many good fanfics in my native language.

for real, even when kaname obtained yuuki he still felt unsatisfied, he even said in a roundabout way that zero understand him better than yuki, then left yuuki and irritated when sara gave zero blood, he also became petty when zero had amnesia, even before he died he hug yuuki's shouder but he hug zero's waist (idk for me waist is more intimate than shoulder to hug) also, this is purely headcanon but isn't zero quite similar with kaname's love before yuuki, a love that thrown him into despair upon her death .. the hunters' power were come from her and zero's family is the strongest, zero even is the one who could wield bloody rose, so i think this headcanon isn't too far off

I personally dislike Kaname, he’s done so much damage to others in order to “protect what matters to him.” Very conniving, especially when I found out he was the one to release Shizuka from her cage, ultimately leading to the massacre of the Kiryuu family. He had no choice, it’s be or be killed. You can’t make friends out of anyone, everyone wanted to kill him as well. And the reason Zero family got killed was because of Ado.(yuuki’s uncle) He put Shizuka’s husband on the list to be killed, and Zero family killed her husband. That’s exactly why she came back and killed Zero’s family. Kaname is actually one of the most caring person, people just viewed him as evil. He’s been through so much shit, in the manga he literally wasn’t accepted by anyone. Therefore, the reason he’s so cold. His first lover died the only person who accepted him, and now he wanted to protect someone who he also fell in love with. You can’t be merciful when your a vampire, like I said be or be killed. He’s lived for 10,000+ years, he knows what the ‘vampire world’ is like. You need to understand from his perspective, if it wasn’t for him yuuki and zero would’ve died. You don’t know how many people was out for both of them, Kaname always was looking out for Yuuki. It was always from the shadows...

It’s sad to see how much the Kuran family meddled with his life. I would say he’s kind to only an extent, I recall his inner circle stating he was a kind Pureblood since his punishments were very mild seeing as he’d only slap them. Buuuut with Zero he treated him like absolute garbage, used him as a tool for his master plan, “allowing” him to live only for this sake. Yeah he didn’t have to be friends with everyone yet he automatically decided to hate on Zero because he spent most of the time bonding with her, as if he wasn’t the one who manipulated it. And he should have factored in that possibility since he has to care about Yuki in order to protect her. And who else was out to get them? I only knew of Rido, and possibly Takumas uncle and The vampire council who both went behind his back. I guess later on himself since he decides to finish the hooded woman’s wish in exterminating pure bloods lol. I haven’t reread the manga in years, I remember hating the ending as well. I suppose I can see the whole law of nature “eat or be eaten” in their vampire world especially Pureblood v other purebloods but still doesn’t mean it was alright to subject it onto others. (Zero)

Pretty much, zero and kaname deserve one another. Not that i hate yuuki since she's too innocent- She's not even fit the political appointment. Some fan (no only KaZe shipper) have a point when they said that Kaname did married Yuuki for the promise he owed to Juri and Haruka. And when he realized Yuuki was in love with him it was probably one of the way to protect Yuuki at all cost- since the man said that "she's the girl i destined to be. If she wants" not to say Kaname wouldn't force anything with the girl. Question always comes at first on why would Kaname let Zero bite his neck of all blood pulse? Second of all he could've cut his own flesh without risking any one sided bond between them. And third why would he even be pissed when Zero did take blood from others and to tell that he force Zero to drink his blood when the said man definitely not yet hungered (Or when Kaname gets annoyed when Zero refuse to take his blood) One fact: Hino Mitsuri, the author herself was planning on making this anime/Manga Shounen Ai but she's afraid no one would like it. To think that the movie would go well even without Yuuki as the main character. I wouldn't say much but her Character is so... Plan. Her act was based on a very average girl who couldn't pick between two individuals who's clearly in love with her. The only thing that keep her up the whole show was her past and parents. (and also Kaname's promise to her parents, obv.)
