Kane and Pia, I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your vlogs. Kane the last part of the vlog that showed the Ocean with the music playing almost left me in tears. Try this, mate. Go to your selected picture profile. Expand it so you can see it's settings Reduce Contrast, Sharpness, Noise reduction, Saturation, ALL to -5. Shoot test clip. adjust if nec. Try grading the new profile with a LUT etc. Whatever. 🎥 👍

The problem is the iso stepping that happens as I go between light and dark areas. It’s really quite problematic.

@@KaneAndPia The fix is, set ISO to auto. When I'm out and about this is my go to action. Don't transition camera between dark and light areas quickly, otherwise camera won't handle the task. In the menu items you will probably find an option to adjust the rare of change for auto iso. Sony have a recent feature on their pro cameras (PXW-FS5 & FS7) infinite ND with either manual or auto control. The idea is when camera is moved from an interior to outside it will automatically adjust ISO leaving you with a set iris and shutter speed.

@@KaneAndPia One other fix is to work with de-clicked lenses, DOPs do this, You just roll the iris ring for a subtle change of exposure, simple. I have CCTV glass for M4/3 cameras that we de-clicked, it's fine.

re 6:16 Kane is definitely doing a good thing, when a person wakes up daily 75 to 90 minute before sunrise (eg: current Surfers Paradise QLD sunrise is 615am , so wake up at 445am / 500am) there are certain beneficial hormones that get released in the brain and throughout the body than someone who wakes up after sunrise. It is good to take a 45 minute / 90 minute “siesta” (quick sleep nap) daily too around 1115am/1145am. also a good habit is to be fully asleep by 930pm/945pm so you get a full 6.5 to 7 hour night-sleep. NOTE for those that live near Gold Coast QLD in late November / early December sunrise is at “430am” so then you have wake up at about 315am/330am to experience these benefits

‘siesta’ (daily daytime nap) was very common worldwide before the advent of common-use electricity era & corporate/stock-market era & common use of clocks era , people in India Russia Arabia Africa Europe Americas use to wake up about 90 minutes & get dressed & clean themselves before sunrise and would open up their shops (6 to 7 days per week) and start work and kids would be at school 15 minute before sunrise or at sunrise, and they would work or run their business or study (kids) until the sun was directly above their head, at which time they would close their shop or stop working or leave school and they would go home and have a 45 to 75 minute sleep and then wake up and spend time with their families until sunset and when it starts to get dark, then about an hour or 1.5 hours after sunset they would all go to sleep

I've had my X-T4 now for a few months and I love it, even though we're still in that honeymoon phase. Hopefully you'll enjoy as well. As for your video, Kane, I don't think the any problems were attributed to either you or the camera, let's blame Mother Nature. Shooting in full sun always has it's challenges, and I don't think the Sony will deliver better video, especially in these conditions, as what you're getting from the X-T4 (APSC vs full frame) that's a discussion for another day . I think they are talking about ‘start of Civil Twilight’ when the sun rays start to appear taking away the darkness, which currently on the Gold Coast QLD is at about 550am/555am but the actual Sunrise (where you start to see the top edge of the actual sun) is at about 615am/620am (Gold Coast QLD mid August)
