Okay, so I think Kang just became one of my favorite Marvel villains now. Such a interesting and complicated origin story that actually makes a lot sense. Knowing his new origin now make the lines on his face seems more symbolic as if they were his tears from his failures trying to actualize his deep desire.

I especially like the frisson, the cognitive dissonance between old Kang demanding he "wipe that pathetic paint off your face" as he seems to still wear it himself, since it seems to have become a constant characteristic of the way that that version of Kang is always depicted. Hate and bitterness can make you incredibly un-self-aware.

That was absolutely brilliant. These are the stories I find to be truly compelling. Yes, the whole hero triumphs over the villain trope is cool. But a story set in that universe and is so intimately personal that you really relate to a character is what makes something seriously special.

Started being curious about Kang after watching Quantumania & seeing Jonathan Major’s brilliant performance. And it led me to this video and wow. Thank you for sharing this nonlinear story. Was trying to understand Kang, Rama-tut, Immortus, Ironlad, that are all one character or person. Decent story and found it very similar to other stories of understanding one self. With all you have experience, learn, seen, study, and understanding, then the conclusion is that you can only control what you control.

The young Kang in this comic was iron lad. Adult Kang went back right to the moment the bully was about to slit his throat, displaced him and he became iron lad, then eventually adult Kang got iron lad back to the point his throat was slit and wiped his memory of having been iron lad and allowed the bully to slit his throat. This young Kang is after the recovery from that injury.

I guess how you can explain it is that while Kang has traveled across time and lived many life times. He himself, his memories and his actions have a linear sequence to them. Thus when Nathaniel comes out of the coffin and meets Kang, this Kang does not remember him because this Kang is in a moment of his linear life where he has not yet decided to take his younger self

What a great story! Thankyou for covering this! I love that I honestly didn’t tie everything together until the last section of this video, like I understood it but I couldn’t tie everything together but when OG Nathanial visited the young Nathanial at the end it just clicked for me how Kangs time loop works, why the Scarlet Centurion is referred to as Kangs son. Everytime Kang travels back to meet Nathanial whilst he is less savage in his action and mission to conquer he is just as steadfast in his motivation regardless of wether for good or for evil. To finish with young Nathanial telling him to never love just like Kang told him when young, Chefs kiss! After this to me a Kangs story is never finished until there is a Conquerer/Kang above him and an Ironlad/Nathanial below him.

The way that Nathaniel Richards and Revonna were in Rama-Tut's ship, and he had a bunch of ladies around him, I liked that, because it reminded me of Maestro Hulk, and that is one of the things that I LOVE about Maestro Hulk's empire, because it is different from all of the thrones and statues of the ruler, and the great army and things like that, Maestro Hulk's empire actually does go into what he does behind the scenes, like it's not like Darkseid or Dr. Doom, or other rulers like that who you just see on a throne and commanding armies, and doing nothing else.

I've never understood why it's a big thing of determining whether or not Nathaniel Richards was descended from Reed Richards, or Dr. Victor von Doom. He can literally be descended from both. That's kind of how families work over time.

I mean when MCU Dr. Strange realized in every reality of the Multiverse he can't ever have Christine, he just dealt with it. Kang couldn't get Ravonna, so he chose to become an incel, but actually managed to take over the universe at every moment of time. Then he still realizes he can't have Ravonna, and when he trains his younger self, he is so bitter that he kills Nathaniel Richards' Ravonna? He's truly both the conquereor of time and slave to time itself. And truly, the greatest adversary of Kang's story is his own true nature. None of it would've happened if he had never aspired for anything more than the perfect peace he had in the future. And he definitely could temporarily stop the cycle by just killing himself.

The whole “is he related to richards or doom?” Question isn’t necessarily a one or the other sort of question. It could be both. When you look that far in the future with the number of descendants that would have sprung from the ever expansive branches of each families family tree that one of the descendants far down that line may have married and had offspring with a member who could trace his or her line back to the other. So both might very well be true.
