I think if the map was named something like "Formula for Success" or "Fast Math" or "Math n' Jumps", would have given people a clue to the importance of the formula without having to reveal much. The downside (and upside) is the track can be brute forced with some trial and error so catching on to the importance of the formula isn't super important, so I think you could have let them suffer a little longer before you gave out the secret. Either way, another fun video, and thanks for making the content! :)

Just putting n in an equation with no explanation is like putting a hazard sign on the road with no symbol, it means something, but you gotta guess what it means and hope you're right.
@gengarisnotinsmash...
@gengarisnotinsmash... 2 жыл бұрын
You really should have added the =x at the end of the expression. I was initially thinking you were solving for n and wondering how it was possible without a number the expression was equal too, adding the =x would show you are solving for x and make people think about what n could be, and make it more intuitive that it's the jump number.
@hackmenotplease

@gengarisnotinsmash...
@gengarisnotinsmash... 2 жыл бұрын
@@hackmenotplease you are right that it should be x=, but not n. N was already the number of jumps, but you are solving for the needed speed on those jumps, which needs a separate variable. X is most commonly used as the number you are trying to solve for, but any symbol would work provided it wasn't n.

@@gengarisnotinsmash... v(elocity) or Vn would've been the most logical symbol I'd say. Also while n is usually the variable for number of times, number of times of what isn't clear, and maybe calling the variable J or having any reference like colors or an n next to the jumps or the map name could've helped.
@Queue3612
@Queue3612 2 жыл бұрын
Yes this too, and leaving x as just that so people have to figure out that x is speed would add a good puzzle element to this. but leaving n unknown is bad, noone would reasonably be able to figure out it was the jump number, esspecially when they are already on a time limit

The math formula was basic but not the value of n. Not many people know n is commonly used to denote counts or subsequent number placement on a list. As someone said in the chat, you should've stated it somewhere. A track name n = jumps could have been nice or maybe just alongside the equation. Or maybe a bit more obscure but still obvious, signs on the side of each jump denoting their numbers: 1, 2 and 3.

kAN, the video thumbnail is actually a quadratic formula (in turning point form). I graphed it, and there are two solutions (it's a quadratic, so two solutions when y=0), which is n=6 and n=0. The vertex is at (3,180), and is a minimum (because a is negative, and yes, I know that makes no sense in turning point form). There's your maths for the day.
