Understand, the more OIL you add into the fuel, the more LEAN you are making the FUEL TO AIR mixture. So stick with whatever the bike is tuned for. Also, if you are jetted for summer time air: The winter will make it even MORE LEAN-- because the air is more dense, and you are getting a larger amount of air in the winter vs in the summer time.............. So with the AIR being more dense, AND you adding more oil -- this will make it DOUBLE LEAN.. or Way TOO lean and will burn up pistons easier. So stick with the same oil% year round-- and you really should be jetting it with larger jets in the winter, because the air is more dense. That's probably why you guys locked up the piston in your recent video; Running it too lean. I always ran my bikes at 32:1 and my boat at 50:1.

I'm from Australia, I'd be wary to switch the engine off at all in that climate in the middle of a frozen lake. But it's good to have clear audio on the video too, so I'd switch off too in that case.
