No crazy edits, no music to distract. A simple "what you see is what you get" documentation of the trek. Very good coverage of landscapes and the weather conditions to help future trekkers out. Great content and also great job team.

Tough trip but beautiful and you survived it, I've been to rural India and Nepal and can attest to the airport and logistic foul ups but always felt safe in Nepal, India not so much.

I have enjoyed watching your video from first to last. It's a very inspiring at the first place as the trekkers are all old age but very very strong and fit to scale at such height, difficult and hard route, secondly I have liked and loved your capturing the wonderful views and being a photography passionate. Appreciated your extra miles like, waking up early in the morning fighting cold weathers, walking to higher points to get the best views etc, despite tired walking during the day and filming simultaneously... BRAVO!!! keep it up sir.

Amazing video. No music, no voiceover. You gave me exactly what i wanted. Also i understand your pain walking on those boulders and rocks. I wonder why Goecha La trek is not allowed in Winter season. with snow all over filling the gaps btw the boulders it shouldnt be hard to trek.
@stephen.t.slater
@stephen.t.slater 4 жыл бұрын
Walking in snow is usually more difficult. If it is soft, your feet can sink in up to your knee or higher every other step and pulling them out is very tiring and slows you down. You can fall down unseen holes and get stuck. If it is over boulders, every step you don’t know whether it is firm underneath, or your ankle will go down a gap between the rocks. If the snow is hard it can be slippery, and you need ice axe and crampons and possibly to walk roped together. It can vary from hard to soft through the day as the sun warms the snow. If it is actually snowing you might have to say in camp, needing extra days of food, the new snow might block walking out. There are other hazards like whiteout visibility, avalanches and the cold. Both trekkers and crew need to be trained to walk in winter conditions, and even then it would be very hard to predict weather conditions in the mountains over a long trek.

@@stephen.t.slater Many thanks Stephen for your reply. I will consider them while planning my next trek. Also i am planning to solo trek Goecha La. I have a query, I see you stayed in tents almost at all the points. Is that because you didnt have any teahouses/local houses over there ? Or you prefered to stay in tents ? Aprpeciate your reply.
@stephen.t.slater
@stephen.t.slater 4 жыл бұрын
@@juhanpad69 I booked onto a trip organised by a trekking company and this was the package on offer. I never considered tents vs indoors. I don’t remember seeing much alternative accommodation, though there are other routes to Goecha La that you can consider where there may be more. Personally, I have a slight preference for staying indoors rather than camping, but a greater preference for remote routes away from towns.

Hi Showdown - wen you get a chance, can you please give some views/ideas to have better treks from your perspective? What exactly are you bench marking this one with? I am looking to do some trekking in the near future and your tips may help. From what I saw this was a very good and successful effort by those who participated though the weather didn't play sort at Goeche La (of course it could have been worse). Kudos Mr. Stephen Slater and gang and thanks for posting the video!!!

Was that yak ok breathing the way it was? It had a huge load on its back to. I no there strong animals but ide rather try and carry as much as i can to lighten the load. But i suppose it's hard for humans to carry heavy loads at altitude.

@@oneactionman YOU SOUND LIKE MY KINDA FRIEND , DAVID !! IT HURTS ME SEEING THOSE ANIMALS CARRYING SUCH HEAVY LOADS . WHY CAN'T THEY SIMPLY USE TWICE THE AMOUNT OF ANIMALS AND CUT THEIR LOADS IN HALF , AND MAKE THE HUMANS CARRY MORE OF THEIR OWN STUFF , WHICH MIGHT MAKE THEM CONSIDER PACKING LESS TO BEGIN WITH . THIS USE OF ANIMALS TO CARRY SUCH HEAVY LOADS WOULD SOON BE SHUT DOWN IN MOST WESTERN COUNTRIES . HERE IN CANADA , FOR SURE -----THOUGH WE'RE STILL IN THE DARK AGES FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY IN THE FARM / MEAT INDUSTRIES .... BUT IT'S KEPT WELL HIDDEN. I'M AFFRAID TO TRAVEL TO EXOTIC DESTINATIONS WORLDWIDE FOR FEAR OF WITNESSING ANIMAL CRUELTY AROUND ANY CORNER .... IT WOULD BE TOO UPSETTING. SEEING DOGS CRAMMED IN CAGES IN CHINA'S DOG EATING CULTURE ....LIVE CHICKEN'S CARRIED UPSIDE DOWN ALONG STREETS IN PARTS OF INDIA AND OTHER PLACES . THE LIST IS ENDLESS FOR WHAT ANIMALS ARE PUT THROUGH ALL OVER THE PLANET ON A DAILY BASIS. I DON'T THINK I COULD HANDLE SEEING ANY OF IT . I PRAY FOR THE DAY WHEN HUMANS ARE NO LONGER CAPABLE OF HARMING ANIMALS ---- BUT COME TO KNOW THEM AS THE DIVERSE AND EQUAL BEINGS THEY ALL ARE , AND POTENTIAL FRIENDS THEY EACH CAN BE , IF WE ALLOW THEM TO LIVE THE LIVES THE CREATOR MEANT THEM TO HAVE. SORRY THIS IS A LONG REPLY , BUT READING YOUR COMMENT MADE ME SO HAPPY .... IT'S RARE TO HEAR A VOICE OUT THERE WHO CARES FOR ANIMALS THE WAY YOU OBVIOUSLY DO ....I ALMOST NEVER GET TO STATE HOW I FEEL ABOUT THEIR TREATMENT BY HUMANS TO SOMEONE WHO REALLY GETS IT. MOST ARE DEFENSIVE , AND FEEL ATTACKED IF ONE SPEAKS ABOUT THE HARM WE DO TO OUR FELLOW CREATURES . THANK YOU FOR EXISTING , DAVID V. ;-)
