Kangna was the most famous track from this season among the older generation here in Pakistan.. because they know the beauty of it much more than the millennials and Gen Zs... I think everyone should appreciate the amazingness that's happening in this performance... cause all who recognize good music know this is a masterpiece!!!

@@hanafromtunisia It is from an era of Coke Studio when it was a niche platform for music lovers which encouraged experimentation, expression, innovation, that's why we had 10.15 min masterpieces like Kangna, Aadam, Rang etc. Now they have to adhere to the two minute attention span generation that's why season 15 of Coke Studio has almost all songs under 5 mins, with popularity came the concessions and although I really liked season 15 it seemed too superficial (albeit in a good way) with perhaps only O Yaara satisfying that old CS itch.

Mehmaan and Jhol neeed to be the real blockbusters🥺🖤 but I truly truly hope short attention span wale don't steal the charm and ruin everything for us.

Main language is Urdu, precisely classical urdu aka Rekhta, fusha if you will. Main format or genre is Qawali,,,,Fareed and Ayaz read it in Farsi and Urdu, sofi poetry, Kabir, for instance. They amalgamate kalam from these two and sometime from Arabic as well depending on the kalam, moqa , mahal....This is an experimental piece where both, the house musicians and Fareed - Ayaz were willing to experiment....it paid off big time......these guys are pure,,,,,,,,not your mainstream artists but masters in their own field, genre of music,,,,,

This track was also used in a movie “ the reluctant fundamentalist “. Language is braj bhasha, except a couplet which was in Farsi. Braj bhasha is a western dialect of Hindustani. Urdu and Hindi are two standards of Hindustani which are based on Delhi’s dialect, Khari boli. Before Khari boli, standard dialect of Hindustani was braj bhasha. Most of the songs of Ameer Khusro are written in Braj bhasha. Braj bhasha is also the dialect of choice for performing the stories of Radha and Krishna. So, this song also about Radha and Krishna. However, you must know that romantic love is a reflection of divine love according to mystics. So when Radha is speaking to Krishna, she is not only speaking to her lover but to divine as well. Similarly, Muslim sufis elaborated on the stories of Laila Majnoon, Shirin Farhad, Heer Ranjha, Sassi Punhu to deliver the concept of divine love through these stories of romantic love. We call these as Ishq e Majazi and Ishq e Haqiqi. These concepts are important to understand the traditional songs and urdu poetry in general..:)
