I don't understand the difference between onyomi and kunyomi. Can someone explain it to me without talking about the old times and how it evolued please cause in google it shows like that and i don't understand anything. Like how do you read this kanji when there's only it

Kun-yomi is how the word is pronounced in Japanese. On-yomi is based on the original Chinese pronunciation of the kanji. The Japanese word for the “moon” is Tsuki. Therefore, the kanji 月 which means “moon” is read “Tsuki” in Japan. That is the kunyomi of kanji 月. There are words that are made up by more than one kanji. It is similar to compound words. Japanese reads them using the original Chinese sound. For example, 十月 is a word made up with a combination of the number ten and the moon. It means the tenth month, October. The onyomi of 十 is juu, and the onyomi of 月 is gatsu. Therefore, October is juugatsu in Japanese. One way to tell which yomi to use is when the kanji is accompanied by hiragana, the reading is most likely kunyomi. When the kanji is combined with another kanji, the reading is most likely onyomi.

I heard that in archaic times. 月("tsuki", moon/month) was used to refer to the women's menstrual cycle because it was believed that the moon was the cause of it.
