Russian Navy warships, including a frigate and a nuclear submarine began arriving at the port of Havana on Wednesday, after carrying out practice maneuvers in the Atlantic Ocean.
Cuba said last week that such visits were standard practice by naval units from countries friendly to Havana, and that the ships carried no nuclear weapons and did not present a threat to the region.
The U.S. military expects the exercises will involve a handful of Russian ships and support vessels, which may also stop in Venezuela.
It's said their intelligence community has determined no vessel is carrying nuclear weapons and Russia’s deployments “pose no direct threat to the United States.”
