Worth watching movie. When I saw the Mammooty entry in the TATA sumo I was sure that this movie going to be fantastic. Mammootty entry through TATA sumo viper was fantastic idea. Didn't agree with the comments on Kuttavum shikshayum. Oru genreyile ore type films vyathastha reethiyil kaanikkunath nallathaanu. Kuttavum shikshayum is a realistic investigation thriller which forces the audience to connect with characters through the setting, cinematography, realism, and performances. Kannur squad is a different type of film, focusing on cinematography and bgm. Both are good in their own way. For example, survival thrillers aaya Virus and 2018 different type films aanu. Virus engages the audience with realism and makes us feel as if we are actually in the movie with the characters, unlike 2018 which uses a more cinematic approach. Both succeeded in connecting with the audience despite using different approaches.

Quite surprised how people like this movie. I watched it yesterday. Found every scene to be so predictable. Right from the start it is understood that the squad is going to catch the villains. If at all anything could be interesting, it could have been how the squad uses their intellect to track the villains, but instead they become superheroes in fight scenes. 5 people beating up an entire village, mammooty flying out of a toppling Sumo, all these sequences make you wonder how the actual team caught the criminals. So many scenes made no sense. Sunny Wayne starts narrating a story and then disappears, Cholan ips unnecessarily delivering lengthy dialogues, the prolonged fight in the village.. cinematography and editing were very average. Apart from mammootys brilliant acting there's nothing to enjoy in this movie.

@@OUTSPOKENROAST i guess. And liking it is a subjective experience. I wish there had been some unpredictability to the hunt. A hero beating up all the bad guys seemed like a 'vijay' movie. I feel movies like ayyapan koshi, unda handled these elements with a balance.

I thought, the fight scenes were what they call "cinematic" without which,as the reviewer mentioned, the movie risks being labeled as mere documeary. Other than that the movie was pretty realistic in capturing the pains cops goes through in help establishing law. Plenty of elements to enjoy in my opinion. This was not about identifying the villains which was revealed half way through the movie. This was about chasing them and the difficulties the cops experience in doing that. Is it perfect? No. Does it merit being a hit? Yes. Your mileage may vary.

That's why I felt it didn't stay true to a genre. Fight scenes need not be so exaggerated. For me it was not convincing at all how few people beat up an entire village, or even the last fight was very artificial. But yeah that's my perspective. The movie didn't convince me. I also don't agree with labelling a realistic movie as documentary. Kuttavum sikshayum is a brilliant movie, the performances and making are so real that some people label it documentary. Little sad that even a movie telling a real story needs masala scenes to grip the audience. A lot if investigation or crime movies in Hollywood stay true to reality. You won't see flying superheroes in Zodiac or Breaking bad. Is breaking bad a documentary?
