Is Leo Chenal ready to be the anchor of the Chiefs' defense in 2024?
@UsefulPreconceivedNotions4 ай бұрын
With Jones & Karlaftis also on the team? High bar my friend. Cripes, if I ever get my heath back I'm gonna do stuff like this too because I could watch this on silent & know these are great plays. & that's just it, I _see stuff_ that doesn't show up in games the way they're shot. Even though it's older, I recently ran across footage proving once again that what we think we're seeing regarding Fields isn't quite what's there. 12 minutes into kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zp_HY3SZZs2Ue7M we see examples of Mooney not gaining separation but placing himself in the passing lane of another receiver anyway. Watch Fields' body language: the way he stops cold upon seeing this, like he's doing a comical double-take. How often have we see Fields do this but not seen why? This is the most obvious case that I'm aware of of people being blinded by narratives. Previously it was Lamar with "Greg Roman is helping him with His Issues." Since NFL teams don't hold press conferences to announce to the league the weaknesses of their players, this was ever a narrative made to excuse that Roman wasn't being fired. With Fields it's more of the same. He's being blamed in order to I guess spare the feelings of fans. Because we have those o-line plays where his teammates run away from blocks, & they're not the ones we see "every bad o-line make." The Titans didn't seem to know how or have the personnel to put extra blockers on the line & got overwhelmed, Evan Neal gets his hands on pass-rushers. These guys are running away from blocks & even at 22:45 kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJrMfGVni998ldE literally slamming into each other. If there are other teams doing this, I apologize for wasting your time. But otherwise, there's a story here & a _LOT more_ material for a video analysis of how Fields goes from being better in college than Williams (as we can see when shown together kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3uyYoOpqtV5lbc) to having his own teammates set him up to be sacked by running away from blocks by the o-line & doing all the blocking of passing lanes instead.

I think most Chiefs fans will say this assessment was “spot on” to the tee! Great job! We love Leo and understand his limitations. I personally want to see him in red for the long haul

@@TrinityMThomas I think he was stoked to be blocking G. Karlaftis, and he was going to stick to that block to the whistle. I was surprised at how well KC defended both Kittle and Jusczyk (sp?).

So good to see some Leo love! He's an absolute thumper. And if resigning Bolton proves problematic after this season, Leo can step into Nick's role fairly well.

Watching this guy's tape as he was wrecking the Big 10, then watching him translate that talent to the NFL - has been most gratifying. Leo's a stud who will mature into a game changer who needs to be accounted for whenever hes' on the field.

I came here from your tik tok vid, I learned so much more about the “chess” of football than I knew about Chenal, great video! To me it’s crazy how Chenal is literally throwing offensive lineman like he’s blocking them. It creates so much more space for Bolton, who’s already one of the best tacklers in football, to get open field tackles, it also just disrupts the front so much. I’m gonna miss Willie, but this makes me excited for Chenal.

I like Leo Chenal. Versatile - Big, strong, quick and can do a little bit of everything at an above average level consistently. Seems to perform at a higher level in the playoffs as well!
@harrymills27704 ай бұрын
Yeah. He's not quite a 3-down linebacker. He can do some things in the pass rush, but coverage isn't his forte. The Chiefs only roll him out on Special Teams, or 21- and 22-personnel, or the occasional tackle-eligible plays against 6 O-Linemen. He may see even less work this year, because of how big and physical their current group of DBs is. One thing I noticed about Chenal is that teams that try to go after KC on the ground, because of their reputation as being soft against the run quickly change their minds. He's like KC's antidote to the power game, along with Nick Bolton, who isn't the freak Chenal is, but can stack, too. I'm glad you brought up that play where he went through TE and FB to get to McCaffrey on an outside zone. That was kind of my bellwether play for what makes the kid special, and how teams expecting to run behind a fullback are always going to be disappointed, as long as he's a Chief. You picked up on a few things I hadn't specifically noticed, because they were only instrumental to the play, but he may not have gotten in on the play. I did notice, last year, how good he is in those Bear fronts.

Fantastic breakdown and analysis. Truly an outstanding video. Love Leo. I was shocked when I saw him actually set the edge the first time. He was an immovable object. Leo's a freaking boss. Hoping he gets even more playing time this year.

Leo is an incredible talent, who I’d love to see test himself at edge opposite George Karlaftis. Work on his hand technique and pass rush arsenal, and I think he could be outstanding…. BUT, to add to this, when losing Nick Bolton last year, Drue Tranquill was equally as good as Chenal, if not a little better. Thanks for the love for Leo.

I'm all seriousness though, I hardly knew who this guy was and looked into him when trying to figure out some depth IDP guys for a 32 team fantasy league and felt like I got a great steal in the 14th round. Especially after watching this.

I think Leo Chenal (Shuh-NALL, not Shuh-NELL (which is a perfume)) already broke out. I don't think his snap count will go up, unless the Chiefs face more 21- and 22-personnel. In fact, I think it's his performances against those personnel groupings that causes opposing offenses to avoid those groupings. KC's 4-3 base grouping is just too stout.

It is pronounced Shu-Nell- I think I would know as he’s my little brother- my family has always pronounced it that way for some reason even though it should be pronounced as you said.
