@@TMA62 something that I would really like and appreciate, would be not only having a paint scheme that would be a mix of the two, but if they did something similar to what BNSF does i.e. they have a mix of paint schemes not only of the current railroad, but of their predecessors, Santa Fe and Burlington northern. BNSF has been one of the more colorful railroads because of this and I do appreciate it that they honor their heritage in this way, since it is definitely a compromise between remaining the same and a complete overhaul of their identity

@@user-DeLorean-Dude2024 I highly doubt it, Kansas City, Southern and Canadian pacific, aren’t both at the brink of total bankruptcy like New York Central and the Pennsylvania was. Furthermore, there isn’t a bunch of redundant track that they can’t afford like what happened with Penn Central. Most importantly, they aren’t in a state of affairs so pitiful that they have horrific deferred maintenance. Penn Central did. If something like Penn Central did happen today, I can foresee some of the other companies being persuaded to take on those areas or something like Conrail coming back.

The way how the engines are facing, it's like the Golden Spike in Promontory, Utah but in diesel version. If the presidents in charge of the railroad companies shake hands, it'll really complete it. It's like history is repeating itself but in a good way. Congratulations!!!!

The new CPKC railroad, which was created with the merger on Friday, had its first derailment today 15 miles east of Jackman, Maine. All the locomotives & 6 cars loaded with lumber of a WB train derailed & caught fire where a section of rail bed had washed out due snow & ice melt. The engineers were taken to hospital but will be OK.

A little KCS fun fact. I started my RR career on the KCS in 1995, working into KC. There was an old yardmaster named Richard working Knoche Yard. When we would enter the yard, most of the time we would have to cut our trains into segments and put it into multiple tracks. Called "doubling". Richard would tell us to do so, and he would want the "cut number"....the car numbers that went into the separate tracks, which would indicate what "cut" of cars went where. We would make our cut and call him on the radio. We would say, "I have the cut number, YOU GOT A PENCIL DICK"? (Richard) In a defeated low voice he would always respond...."yes".

This is going to be a huge investment in rail transportation. Plus competition to Burlington Northern Santa Fe, Norfolk Southern, CSX and Union Pacific. But it's going to bring more goods to the short lines. Who have contracts with Canadian Canadian Pacific Kansas City Southern. It's going to be huge. And for the railfan it's sad. But exciting.

@@jimnicholas7666 my favorites paint schemes of railroads that are, I would say contemporary (since 1990) would be Conrail Norfolk Southern (I like the black and white striped paint scheme when I was a kid) Burlington northern. and finally Santa Fe. I am also somewhat partial to BNSF colors, because the pumpkin colored version of the war bonnet is a interesting compromise between heritage and modernity. I for one I’m not going to start judging this new class one railroad until a few years pass, and we get an idea of how it affects commerce and the economy.

Funny! If any of us maintenance were caught even taping a spike with a hammer and I literally mean even just tapping it and a company official sees it they will pull us out of service pending investigation. No questions asked! Less than 5 years with the railroad it’s an automatic 3 year probation and if you get a second one in those 3 years you can more than likely be fired. On another note I can see hundreds and hundreds of jobs being on the chopping block immediately.
