While I’m a super fan of Kansas, Steve Perry is the best voice ever. Hardly anyone can sing like he can.

You should tell someone that, or write it down, so that your wishes are followed. I've already told my husband that if I go first, I don't want a droll funeral. I would prefer a celebration of life and I want Icarus - Bourne on Wings of Steel to be played.

Steve is my favorite singer of all time. But these comments are overlooking Robbie's vocals. The band grew up on Robbies seismic vocals. Steve found his chops on Robbies shoulders. They became brothers in vocals.

I DONT CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS......KANSAS "WAS" THEE GREATEST ROCK GROUP THAT EVER WALKED THIS PLANET. MY BOSS LUUVVVVS THE BEATLES AND ALWAYS TALKS HOW GREAT AND SUPERIOR THEY ARE AND I AGREE,THEY ARE GREAT....BUT KANSAS TAKES IT TO A HIGHER LEVEL. Lyrics, and instrumentals are elite. However I do understand every one has their own taste BUT if you don't think KANSAS is a ELITE,AWESOME, TALENTED BAND THAT NO OTHER BAND RIVELS. YOU HAVE NO TASTE OR CLUE WHAT MAKES MUSIC SUPERIOR ! I WILL BE IN A NURSING HOME WHEN I'M 90 AND I WILL STILL ENJOY THEIR MUSIC. TODAY.... OVERSEA'S KANSAS IS MORE POPULAR THEN HERE IN THE USA. WHY ? ASIAN COUNTRIES AND GERMANY ARE THEIR BIGGEST EUROPEAN FANS OR BIGGEST FANS PERIOD .WHY ? BY THE WAY ,WHEN I TALK ABOUT HOW GREAT KANSAS IS, 2 ALBUMS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THEIR GREAT RUN. 1.Play the Game 2.Drastic Measures. KERRY WENT BIBLE THUMPING ON THE BAND AND STARTED WRITING MUSIC WITH " IN YOUR FACE" RELIGIOUS LYRICS AND STEVE WALSH WASNT HAVING THAT....SO HE LEFT THE BAND.KERRY....the leader in the band hired a born again Christian singer/musician to fill Steve Walsh's spot. Let Me Tell You Folks no one and I mean no one couldn't fill the shoes of Steve Walsh. The new singer John Elefante is a good person and has a really good voice but it wasn't the right voice for Kansas. His Showmanship on stage at live concerts reminded me of bubblegum music and that's not what Kansas is about. It's about serious intense music. The only person in the band that could get away with flamboyancey in a manly way was Steve Walsh. He was my idol when I was a young guy.ANYWAY I just have to say a few more things. When I bring up the band Kansas to friends, coworkers ,strangers.... they always bring up Dust in the Wind.... Point of No Return or Carry On My Wayward Son and I get so pissed off. I feel like screaming "MOTHER FUCKER,THEY HAVE ALOT MORE MUSIC THEN THOSE COMMERCIALIZED TOP 40 HITS WHICH ARE GREAT..BUT NO....IF YOU HAD AN EAR FOR EXCELLENCE YOU WOULD BUY KANSAS'S FIRST 3 ALBUMS AND LISTEN TO THEM BEGINNING TO END 3 TIMES.YOU NEED TO HAVE A DECENT SOUND SYSTEM AND CRANKED UP. HEY.....LET ME KNOW HOW YOU MAKE OUT ? KANSAS BAND IS........ PHIL EHART -DRUMS RICH WILLIAMS - Guitar Dave Hope - Bass Kerry Livgren - Guitar,Keyboard,lyrics. Steve Walsh - Piano,Keyboard,Vibes, Percussions, Lead Vocals,Lyrics, STUD. Robby Steinhardt- Violin,lead vocals. *John Elephanti - Keyboard and lead vocals. * Billy Greer - Bass, Acoustic guitar, Vocals, lead vocals. * Steve Morse - Guitars * David Ragsdale - Violin,Guitar, AND 3 Other newer band mates. GOOD NIGHT TO ALL YOU LOWLIFE LOSERS WHO DONT LIKE KANSAS MASTERPIECES.ITS YOUR LOSS.
@Elvira000005 жыл бұрын
I love your post and agree with everything you had to say. Your band roster is not exactly up to date though. Since 2014, They are Phil Ehart, Rich Williams, Billy Greer, Ronnie Platt, David Ragsdale, Zac Rizvi, and Tom Brislin. Tom just joined the band near the end of 2018, replacing David Manion. Saw them live last August and they are so phenomenal! Their music is, and always will be, timeless. The amazing creativity that these guys possess is not found in today's music anywhere. I anxiously await their next album, which will drop sometime in 2020.

You won't get an argument here. I first saw them live in 1975 and have been a fan ever since. They are in my top 5 in all of history!

Kerry wasn't/isn't the only Christian in the band. You've got a lot of little mistakes in your comment. There is not an album called "Play The Game". Elefante is not the singer any more, hasn't been for 5 years. The current lineup of the band is the best I have ever seen, including the original six, and yes, I do realize what I am saying here. They are ASTOUNDING today. I LOVE the original six, without them, we would not have a Kansas today, so that is in no way a knock on them. I have loved some aspects of every incarnation of the band, and I loved Kerry and Dave's side project AD, too. AD is really where a lot of the Vinyl Confessions tunes and Drastic Measures tunes should have likely gone, but unfortunately, AD's music and lyrics were over the head of most of the Christian Music marketplace at the time, and they kind of just got lost in the shuffle, unfortunately. Back to Kansas, all of the members both current and former get on well and they're invited to join the band onstage for a song if they are in attendance at a show. There isn't any animosity between them. I've personally witnessed Ronnie Platt shush someone who was comparing him to Steve... he told them that if it weren't for Steve, he would not have the job today, which is true. These guys (the current members, I mean) fully understand and respect the legacy of the band, which is how it SHOULD be. They're great guys and fantastic musicians.

@Harry Hathaway: "Let Me Tell You Folks, no one and I mean no one could fill the shoes of Steve Walsh!!" RRight On, man...preach it brother!! I'm with you all the way on this. I'm kind of glad everyone didn't share my feelings on this subject... If that had happened everyone would have balked like I did and tore up their Audio Visions concert tickets like I did and that would have been so painful for Rich and Phil, etc. But I just never have understood it. I enjoyed your comment very much! God bless all Kansas fans everywhere.

Very cool to come across this concert I was there this day. No place in the world like the Aragon in the early 70's Almost every other Friday night 3 dynamite bands performed live. Only $6.50 general admission, believe me we practically lived there.Most of the bands were just coming out with their first album but many came back with #2 #3 #4. It was always a party for the 3000 or so that showed up for the best concerts. Way to many to name,wish I had my stubs.

Thank God Robbie could sing too as there was no one else in the band to sing the harmonies on all those songs he sings on. I can’t stand seeing a band with no harmony vocals on songs you’re used to hearing them on. Because of Steve’s excellent vocals he was so unappreciated by fans. You would have noticed the lower quality live show if his voice wasn’t there. Along with the violin he was an incredible asset to the band.

Repost from others ,Trying to make sure those who would want to know,,the end of live Steve,, Not to be the bearer of bad news but for those who may not yet know ,,,The Final show for Steve Walsh is August 16th, As he is offically retiring ,The band has a new singer? They will continue.. I personally feel that Steve has gone way way beyond what anybody could do ,for his fans. He abused his vocal cords for 40 years ,to belt out his incredable range for us, and thus paid a price that ,although his voice was damaged from what he did for us,,, It will never change the reality of his voice in this and countless others are Fucking Forever,,, Steve ,They do not have words yet invented for the appreciation of what you have given us… It is OK ,As you never "Left Anything On The Table" They may be singers who have preserved their voice over the years ,That list is very short,, But ,You gave it all ,Always,, for that. Just because you are now retiring ,will Never change the timeless gift you gave… I am glad that Kansas did not get sucked in to the bullshit of the R&RHOF,,, They Do Not Deserve you…" A hundred or maybe a thousand years from now"… That is where the gifts you gave us with you and Kerry and the rest,, will be looked upon exactly as it is. Timeless ,Life Changing Relevations.. Sorry But I call it as I see it,, Thank You ,BTW I do remember all the shows, To have a voice like that and Doing Hand Stands on your keyboard… you have nothing to prove at all,, I live in S. florida and had a friend who knew Don. You ,Kerry and the rest while doing "The Pinnacle" looks like nothing other then Devine Intervention
