Kansas Rocks is a 220-acre 4x4 park located South of Mapleton, Kansas.
Kansas Rocks has over 65 trails and obstacles. Trails are rated beginner to expert and increase in difficulty with rain. The trails are made of loose rock and sticky mud.
Hill climbs, rock gardens, boulders and muck, there’s something for everyone at Kansas Rocks. Stock rigs to custom buggies, all wheelers have a blast.
No park is complete without a Carnage Canyon, and Kansas Rock’s version lives up to the name. A valley of boulders leads to a several climbs and offshoots that have been rutted out from rain and rubber. Headwall is the crown of the canyon.
Zuke’s Squeeze is a muddy and steep hill climb that ends with the choice of either a sheer rockface, or a large notch and boulder field. Lots of bumping and rocker protection are key to this obstacle. It’s an easy place to roll.
Beartracks is a new trail at the top of the park. It’s a muddy creek run with many opportunities to flex and spin your tires.
The Rock Garden is a boulder field by the entrance. It features large and loose rocks, tight turns, and plenty of surprises. An annual amateur crawling competition is hosted here, open to both 4x4’s and UTV’s.
Troxel’s Trough is an obstacle that is known to swallow rigs. A creek pools at the base of a 10’ mud climb, which makes this pit a great place to put on a show. Expect to get stuck so bring a buddy.
Rust Bucket starts with a pool and quick climb, then turns to a bog and through a rock garden with multiple routes. It’s my favorite trail to start the day.
Kansas Rocks hosts many annual events that draw several hundred rigs and visitors. Sponsors find ample exposure with the friendly crowd. Frostbite, Crawlfest, Creepy Crawl, Wheeling For Toys, and a 101 course are some of the major events. They often feature a catered meal and a generous raffle.
Park amenities include restrooms, eating areas, event shelter, kids play area, and air compressor. Primitive camping is available and hotels are close by. Lake Francis has cabins, hook-ups and showers.
