4:30 You may eventually reintroduce the 275 Marching Alto Horn in the Future cause it's really big in versatility. I was thinking of making a version w/ Rotary Valves

As a composer, I'm most interested in the Alto instrument. If it were marketed as an Alto Flugelhorn (which it definitely seems to be), it could easily become a valuable addition to a concert setting. Maybe something along the lines of low Flugelhorn or high Euphonium parts would work extremely well on that instrument.

Kanstul Musical Instruments Hi Jack, I am also interested in the Alto. It could possibly be sold as either a marching Tenor horn or as an alto flugel. Perhaps as a hybrid like the marching trombone / flugelbone. I'll get in touch soon. About time we caught up from our 4 valve bass trumpet discussions several years ago.

Thanks Dave. The Chicago series of trumpets, Models 1000, 1001 and 1070 came about in the 90's. A player at Knott's Berry Farm just up the street in Buena Park was asked by the janitor there if he had ever heard of a Bengee trumpet? When questioned he said he had purchased one in Chicago in 1947(Elden put the date on the bell back then) because he was told it would be worth something someday. The great thing about this horn is IT HAD NEVER BEEN PLAYED! So my father was able to get an exact copy of it. That is now the Kanstul Chicago Series of trumpets. Just like a Chicago Benge.

i would love to get the forward face alto. I always wonder if there were any made like that. in the Salvation Army, we use the upright altos. how much would it cost to get an alto like that?

Played Mello most of my life G bugle in drum corps and F keyed horn in marching bands. Played a G bugle Alto one year. You can keep the alto. I prefer the sound and performance of the G bugle mello as well as the f keyed marching band version. Just my opinion. I wish I could have played on your horns.

Would it be possible to get a French Horn player play the Marching French Horn? Would be great, so that I can hear the difference between the real one and the marching one. I would love to get one, but I‘m not able to test it anywhere, because I‘m not from the US :( So it would be very helpful for my decision :)

The101emotions: Go to KZbin search. Type in: new Kanstul double French horns. It is at the NAMM show 2012. The player plays concert first and finishes by playing the marching French horn.

These videos are fantastic! How long have you guys made kanstul mellophoniums and do you still produce them?

My father invented the Modern Mellophone so we have produced them for 50 years. The Kanstul factory was started in 1981 and has made world class mellophones since it's inception. The brand name is Custom Class now available also as TAMA by Kanstul. They are the finest mellophones available. Rich dark sound with great intonation and sound projection.

To hear the sound of Kanstul marching french horns played by Illinois State go to KZbin and search Illinois State marching band 1998. You will hear them in the Macy's parade. What an incredible middle voice sound.
