I joined the military and was gone from home for 10 years. I relied on this song to make it back home and be with my friends and family. This song was my lifeline. I got out of the military and my family and friends were different. I came home but my home wasn't there. Listening to this song is like sitting in the past and I remember the good times. I wish I never joined so that I could have held onto what made me feel whole-family and friends. Now, I use the music that was out when I joined to remember the past. It gives me goosebumps. I wish things were the way they were before but time moves on.

This is before his mother died and he was happy. Music is about an expression of one's soul. In the present moment Kanye West is experiencing a dark night of the soul. He lost his wife, kids, contracts, and even his mind and all the vultures came out just to pick his soul apart. You can't get this type of music from a person experiencing those things if he GENIUENLY makes music from his heart and soul.

I'm coming home again. Do you think about me now and then? Do you think about me now and then? Cause I'm coming home again I'm in home again. ***** Fine. Lets take this into consideration. And i expect a valid rebuttal or else i will not reply. Kanye changed hip-hop. He has 6 of the most acclaimed albums ever released (My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is regarded the best album of the 2010's so far). Lets not ignore the fact that he has 21 Grammy awards. His albums have been well received by legendary musicians like Bruce Springsteen, Lou Reed, Bono, Bruno Mars, Nas, Elton John, and even Obama (despite his Jackass comment referring to Kanye). The list goes on but i'll stop there. He changes his style on every single album of his. He began with soul sampling on his first album, to a baroque approach on his second album, then he incorporated electro/disco in his third..... all the way to his most recent album Yeezus, which was industrial hip-hop. He can mix genres, sample without difficulty, and is a VERY creative artist, who is overlooked because of his childlike antics. I feel you haven't listened to his music and hate because you do what the other brainwashed sheep do. But there i proved your point wrong.

Kanye caught a lot of flak for bringing Chris Martin (British dude) on a song about Chicago, but I always thought it was a valid, deliberate stylistic choice. This song isn't just a love letter to Chicago--it's a song about Kanye's changing relationship to Chicago after he's become a famous, world-touring artist. If you've ever returned to your hometown after a long absence and a bunch of new life experiences, you do end up feeling like a foreigner in some ways.That outsider feeling is what Ye is trying to convey by having his inner voice of yearning for home be performed by a guy with a British accent. "Homecoming" is actually a pretty bittersweet song in that regard, because it acknowledges that while Chi is Ye's home, it will never fully be his home again. There will always be a part of him that feels foreign to it.

Best Kanye song ever. Beat, flow, rhymes are all impeccable and Chris martins vocals add so much to the song. What makes this song so great is the wordplay and metaphor he uses of comparing a girl, Wendy, to Chicago, Windy City. The first time I understood that he was really talking about Chicago rather than a girl I came to appreciate the song so much more.
@derekant16126 жыл бұрын
Hey Maruffi The metaphor is an homage to I Used to Love H.E.R by Common. Common was taking about the state of hip hop as a her, so Kanye flipped it to talk about Chicago. Two dope Chicago artists 💯

Intro: Kanye West] And you say Chi city! Chi city! Chi city! [Hook: Chris Martin] I'm comin' home again Do you think about me now and then? Do you think about me now and then? ‘Cause I'm comin' home again (Min' home again) [Verse 1: Kanye West] I met this girl when I was three years old And what I loved most, she had so much soul She said, "Excuse me, lil homie, I know you don't know me But my name is Windy and I like to blow trees." And from that point I never blow her off Niggas come from out of town, I like to show her off They like to act tough, she like to tore 'em off And make 'em straighten up their hat ‘cause she know they soft And when I grew up, she showed me how to go downtown, in The nighttime her face lit up, so astoundin' I told her in my heart is where she'll always be She never messed with entertainers 'cause they always leave She said, "It felt like they walked and drove on me." Knew I was gang affiliated, got on TV and told on me I guess that's why last winter she got so cold on me She said, "'Ye, keep makin' that, keep makin' that platinum and gold for me!" [Hook: Chris Martin] I'm comin' home again Do you think about me now and then? Do you think about me now and then? 'Cause I'm comin' home again (Min' home again) Do you think about me now and then? Do you think about me now and then? Now I'm comin' home again Maybe we can start again [Verse 2: Kanye West] But if you really cared for her Then you wouldn't've never hit the airport to follow your dreams Sometimes I still talk to her But when I talk to her, it always seems like she talkin' 'bout me She said, "You left your kids, and they just like you They wanna rap and make soul beats just like you But they just not you," and I just got through Talkin' 'bout what niggas tryin' to do: just not new Now everybody got the game figured out all wrong I guess you never know what you got 'til it's gone I guess that's why I'm here and I can't come back home And guess when I heard that? When I was back home Every interview I'm representin' you, makin' you proud Reach for the stars, so if you fall, you land on a cloud Jump in the crowd, spark your lighters, wave 'em around If you don't know by now, I'm talkin' 'bout Chi-Town [Hook: Chris Martin] I'm comin' home again Do you think about me now and then? Do you think about me now and then? 'Cause I'm comin' home again (Min' home again) Baby, do you remember when Fireworks at Lake Michigan? Oh, now I'm comin' home again (Min' home again) Baby, do you remember when Fireworks at Lake Michigan? Oh, now I'm comin' home again Maybe we can start again [Outro: Chris Martin] Loyee oyeee oh, loyee oyeee oh Comin' home again Loyee oyeee oh, loyee oyeee oh Comin' home again Maybe we can start again

Man this song really means a lot to me. When I was in drug rehab, my therapist and I would jam out to Kanye with her. Got outta treatment in January 2022. This is the song I blasted on my way home from rehab. Fucking brought me to tears. I used to listen to this song fucked up on fentnyal and xans, and now I’m about to hit a year clean on July 20th. Music really touches the soul, and helps me so much in my recovery. Truly blessed to be in recovery, and grateful that Kanye exists to help me through tough times
