It's no wonder Kanye originally wanted this as the last single for the album. This entire track is the centerpiece of Graduation: an electronic hip hop hybrid working with its arena rock influences, and it feels so triumphant and hopeful. Both highs and lows in the mind of what a person wants to be and what they currently are. Kanye's approach to music was untouchable for so long, I hope the man finds his way back again.

@edlalor78494 жыл бұрын
@@davidz2690 thats not what makes the song great. If the song was just the looped sample no one would give a shit. The genius comes from how Kanye took such a beautiful sample and put in a whole new context. The sample mixed with the synths and bumping drums makes a unique nostalgic but also futuristic vibe. which fits beautifully with the themes of the lyrics - growing up, chasing your dreams, looking at your past and your future. all this together creates a masterpiece of a song. The sample is just one part of what makes the song great.

This song just brings the best out of me every time I hear it… “I’ve been waiting on this my whole life, these dreams be waking me at night.” That line resonates so much with me… I lay in bed not able to sleep, I get stressed out about the future and wanting so badly to be successful… I feel like this song is telling us to embrace the struggles in life because when it’s all said and done, when we’ve finally achieved our dreams, all that hard work and all those sleepless nights wondering about the future, really did pay off. I’m a senior about to graduate and I’m listening to this right now before my last day of high school. Reflecting back on it I’ve failed in so many ways, but they were necessary. I thought I was gonna be a collegiate athlete and my dream collapsed with a broken hip, I thought I was gonna get into my dream school but it wasn’t meant to be. All these trials you all are facing will end the way they’re meant to. I don’t know whether my journey with athletics is over and you don’t know what the future holds. So as I go and enjoy my last day tomorrow, I hope you all enjoy the process and enjoy the good and bad all the memories which they form because at the end of the day the moments in the chaos are what make life beautiful.

This is the feeling of falling asleep on a long car ride passing by a distant city, the feeling of waking up so early on a winter morning that its still dark and falling right back into sweet slumber, the feeling of going on midnight bus rides alone to absolutely nowhere and watching lights and street signs flash by, the feeling of being so tired your eyes wont stay open and every sound blends together into a perfect harmony as you fall asleep, the feeling of faint deja vu listening to old 80's, the feeling of that melancholic nostalgia when you visit an old place. I'd like to imagine this song to be the feeling an astronaut feels, looking back at the earth from far away, looking back at the place youve been your whole life, where all your friends and memories are, where all your greatest achievements took place, where your tiny life started and where it will inevitably end, the feeling of true peace, knowing that everything youve ever known is so miniscule to the scale of everything, truly being alone with your thoughts, processing the utterly unbelievable one of a kind, oddly lonely but soothing feeling. This is truly an amazing feeling.

I'm eighteen now, about half a year away from hitting nineteen. Ever since I was in diapers, I had my best friend with me. His family would invite me to their Thanksgiving, he would play catch with my dad in the yard, I would finish my calls with his mom with "Bye, I love you!" My mom would call him her son, and his dad would give me life advice. Growing up, I was never confident but always charismatic. I was constantly plagued with home life drama and struggling to be comfortable in my overweight body. He was the complete opposite, full of confidence but none of the charisma. We were the perfect duo. He would pick me up when I was down, take care of me if I was ever sick, and vice versa. I remember one time I fell asleep on his couch at a house party, and I pretended to be asleep to see why he was getting so close to me. Turns out he delicately reached out, took my glasses off and folded them to be put away on the table so they wouldn't be broken. We shared all the milestones of high school together, laughing our asses off the whole way. When he went through his first heartbreak, I forgave him for all the hilariously stupid things he did because I knew he did it for love, and we would eat ice cream and play sports video games even though I suck at them, just because I know how much it made him laugh to see me try so hard to beat him. We grew from babies to become brothers, and throughout high school, he was the biggest Kanye fan I ever knew. He introduced me to Graduation, Life Of Pablo, and showed me other rappers like Nas and J Cole. But I could feel something was getting worse in him, and I didn't know how to stop it. I never drank, I heard too many horror stories about what it does to your body. And he didn't either at first, but something in him changed after his heartbreak. He said it was just him having fun, but he was getting hammered much too often. I never juuled, smoked cigarettes or vaped, but I had watched him go from asking for a few hits off a juul a week to complaining to me about how he loses half his paycheck to mango pods. He used to tell me that "he's doing better, he used to rip two pods in a week and now it's only one," but he had given that excuse to me so many times that it was white noise at that point. I got high for the first time with him, and I remember begging him to never leave me because I love him like a brother. I got high once inawhile, he got high almost every night. We hit junior year, I fell into an abusive relationship and it took some time to get out of it and regrow from the awful experiences it had and guess who was right by my side? You guessed it. End of junior year came, I met the girl who I'm now discussing wedding plans with her father, and my brother didn't take it so well. He said I had replaced him, he said I was "the worst person ever," and then told me that because I never made time for him anymore, he had been dating my abusive ex girlfriend. Things just got worse from there. We stopped talking, we went from seeing each other every day to barely ever catching a glimpse of one another on our friends' social media pages. Now we're in college, I live on the near west side where I hear gunshots and sirens every night. I know he's out in South Carolina somewhere, and I know he's not doing too well. Jack, I know you barely went on KZbin and you would never watch something like a lo-fi remix of a Kanye song, but I thought here was a better place than most to tell you I still miss you, bud. I never listen to Kanye anymore because I always think of you and me shooting hoops until the sun went down, or the two of us walking to class freshman year trying to solve the mysteries of the universe together in under thirty minutes. I sent you a text on your birthday, I wasn't ever expecting you to respond to it but I like to think you got it since I have no way of knowing. I hope South Carolina's treating you well, I hope your classes are going well too. Thanksgiving's coming up real soon. There's always a seat saved for family, if you ever want to come by. My little sister still asks about you sometimes. Love you, Alex P.S. - Remember that song I made up when we were in middle school? "My girlfriend left me cause she was gayyy. I stepped in a puddle now my socks are all soggyyy." I hope you still have that video saved.

This song brings tears to my eyes. I remember the constant struggle i endured since 2011. Graduated from college, been fired from job after job. My first boss told me to quit while I’m ahead and that i would make it. Put a huge dent in my ego. Went back and got my MBA two years later to prove her wrong. Then the firings continued. Thought my purpose was to take what was handed to me and not share my imagination to the world. Last summer, my life changed forever. After doing Uber for 3 years straight, bouncing in the most notorious clubs 6 nights a week, 2 kids later...I got an investor for a business idea i been sitting on since 2016 and never looked back. Brought my imagination to life. God is real man. Don’t let anyone tell you that you cant create magic! Us Millennials have it hard...

Every time I hear this song i feel alive, not happy, but not really sad either. It‘s this feeling that you get watching a sunset or when something really important happens in your life. This song just makes me remember things I’ve never experienced, like a far away memory but It’s not mine. I‘ve always been someone that thinks a lot about the future and what‘s gonna happen next. I’m always worried about my future instead of just living my life and enjoying it.I find it really difficult to stay in the present sometimes and I feel like I‘m missing out on life. When I listen to this song, everything feels so real, but so beautiful too. It just makes me wanna quit everything and live life like there is no tomorrow. Crazy how it affects me so much. I hope one day I‘ll stop wondering.

“you can still be who you wish you is, it ain’t happen yet and that’s where the tuition is.” this line hits me so deep. for some reason, social media and society makes all of us believe that we have to be successful by a certain age. like we all have to have our entire life planned out by the time you graduate high school. truth is, it’s okay to not have everything planned out. it’s okay to not have all your shit together. stop comparing your life to others on social media. there’s no age limit to chase your dreams. stop worrying that you’ll be a failure if you’re not this or that by 25. no ones perfect. just take time find your dream and once you do, chase it to the very end.

Listening to this brings me the feeling of driving at night, in the summertime, the windows down and each of my best friends filling every seat. The music blasting along with the warm air. I don’t ever stop thinking and worrying about life, but in moments like those all of my troubles were forgotten. I nearly started sobbing when I let myself really think of such an amazing point of my youth. There wasn’t fear of the unknown because I was old enough to think I knew everything but there was still excitement of what was to come in the night. I will always cherish moments like those.

Congrats! It certainly takes an immense amount of courage to do that! Admittedly, I'm still waiting for that moment when I realize what my dream is, and how I'll go after it, but when it reveals itself to me, I know I'll take it! Anyways, Best of luck on your adventure! Peace and Love! 👏🙌

Accomplish little things, gets you out of slump when you see a little success. No matter how small keep succeeding when you have a reason to hit the wall and quit you look back at all the little things you accomplished and that will keep you going. They will seem a lot bigger by then. BTW I am 22 struggling though my Computer Science degree, so keep me in your prayers yall.

My ALL time favorite song and beat by Kanye. So emotional and heart warming. Makes you think about life and wonder what is next for you...
