I don’t think Nicki heard the mix and mastered version of her verse until Kanye released it. She never knew it sounded as such. It was Kanye’s creative choice to implement a lot of the Roman voice throughout her verse. Lastly, I say Nicki had the best verse on the song because of her masterful delivery. She was just floating on the track like a seasoned vet.

Fun fact: Rick Ross had a longer verse and Yé decided to cut it for whatever reason. I’m biased so my suspicions is probably because it didn’t hit as hard as the rest. Kanye’s production is frequently flawless, blending soul and r&b with rap so beautifully. let us judge him by his work. imo Through the fire, All Falls Down and Touch the sky are some of the best composed rap songs of that time period and 2 of those are of that are from his Debut Album. Also he was John Legend’s executive producer and manager for years. As for Nicki, she is a theatre kid to her core, this is the pinnacle of her using the skills she learnt at performing arts school. She earned the title of queen, it wasn’t simply bestowed on her. Its the same reason why they’re mad at her, she raised the performance and writing standards and as a result female rap is now taken as a serious, commercially viable investment for record labels.
