The lambada became world famous in 1989 with the version "Chorando se foi" by the musical group Kaoma, also titled "Lambada"; this was a plagiarism of the original Afro-Bolivian saya song "Llorando se fue" (1981) by the abolivian group Los Kjarkas. Kaoma plagiarized the authorship of the composition from Los Kjarkas. The Kjarkas sued Kaoma and won by proving the plagiarism of the Brazilian group. Anyway, Kaoma took the merits and fame of the arrangement that corresponded to the Abolivian group.
