Kitaro - Theme from the Silk Road.
"The Silk Road: The Rise And Fall of Civilizations" is an NHK Tokushu documentary series that first aired in April 7, 1980, broadcast over a 10-year period. It took 17 years in production to complete what many consider a landmark in Japan's broadcasting television history. The intention of the program was to reveal how ancient Japan was influenced by the Silk Road trade route. The documentary was narrated by Koji Ishizaka with music composed by Kitaro, who insisted that the show be broadcast in stereo. The music was composed mainly using a Minimoog. The series of soundtracks sold millions and the success created from the program brought Kitaro international attention.

I was introduced to Kitaro by a crewman I sailed with on container ships - 1987-1989...I cant remember his name , but I'm eternally grateful...this tune brought me down on an airplane in a storm some years ago , maybe 2014, after 3 tries at landing at Glasgow airport. With this loud in my earphones, I wasn't afraid of dying....so peaceful...graceful, and the way to go.

おめでとう御座います!;) I fondly remember Kitaro's music from his early career. I used to listen Oasis, Caravansary, Silk Road, Return to Russia, Dawn in Malaysia, Earth Born, Cloud in my walkman under summer's starry sky... Was it early to mid 80s? It was the time synthesizers were becoming mainstream with the Yamaha DX-7, Oberheims, ARP, Kurzweils, Korgs, Rolands, Emus, Fairlights, Moogs, etc. It encouraged me to start playing music (synth of course)... Thanks for the time trip :D and happy birthday too!
