Discovered this issue a couple days ago. Was just looking on Microsoft's site, and they recommended your video. Worked perfectly after a reboot. However, after another reboot, the problem has returned. I checked the registry editor again, and the changes I made from your video are still there. Yet, the icon is back in my system tray showing "No internet access".

I tried resetlog via cmd but it doesn't work. I tried uninstalling the network driver it didn't work. I tried to disable and enable network connection does not work. Registry changes are the most powerful. Thank you so much to fix the issue.

I just want to say thank you. It was driving me crazy, my phone and work computer were connecting FINE, but my personnal laptop was like, nope, no internet, not even with my hotspot. This fixed the issue, and my weekend. So really, BIG thank you!

Same. Dang it. I even tried using a usb-c network adaptor and that didn’t work. What’s crazy is that if I plug a different pc into the same cord, I don’t get the error. I think I’ve narrowed it down to a problem with this specific PC, but that’s it. I even reset windows….

I had this problem after a windows update and your fix sorted it thank you. However, I later found that changing EnableActiveProbing to 1 changes the icon in the systray. I didn't need to change all the dns and hosts. Its only the indication icon that is wrong if your have internet access but it says you haven't.

Yes and no I suffered with this issue since May 23 I tried every fix online nothing worked so a few days ago I took my pc apart rebuilt it from scratch and put a fresh install of windows on a separate SSD and finally I have a working issue free pc

My problem is the icon says "internet access" (it is connected to my wifi and I can browse web, download files, but system apps ? like Xbox will not download and I think system updates are stuck) yet is stuck on "identifying...". Also, If I right click and choose "open network and internet settings" a window opens and quickly closes automatically. This happens trying to access those settings from any other location.
