I have owned several different gold wings and rode just about every incarnation. 1100 goldwing was cool and I owned two 1200s and the favorite was the Aspencade 1200. The other was just an interstate. The aspencade had the digitaldash and I thought it was pretty cool. The only thing I never did like too much about the early gold wings was the shifter. I didn't really think much of it until I rode a 1500 six cylinder gold wing. I noticed that the 1200 and older shifter transmission had a clunky feel kind of like I was shifting gears on a tank. I never really noticed it until I drove a 1500 and noticed how incredibly silky smooth the shifter and gears were on the 1500. I was jaded after that and I have a 96 1500 aspencade decked out with every thing you can possibly get from the factory on one. I tried riding an 1800 but for some reason it felt too much like a sport bike plus the luggage capacity was diminished on the 18 compared to the 15. But like you said.... To each his own. If it gets you in the wind and makes you happy then nobody should complain what you're riding. But please don't get me started on a Suzuki Cavalcade. If you do you better get comfortable cuz I got A LOT of opinions on those bikes. Lol

Add electronic ignition, replace old wiring and these things run great...not so good for the highway naked, but pretty amazing bikes... They turn heads

Awesome bikes if ya tackle the rear wheel, 78 needs a new rim, machine error which should have been recalled.

Put Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas and it will run like a dream. I have a "79 Goldwing and put it in every refill.

You were right about calling the fairing and the extra luggage bags shit. Because they are. They just ruin this bike.

Have fun rebuilding all 4 carbs every 100 miles

If you rebuild carbs every 100 miles you have bigger problems.

Pretty ignorant of you to assume that carburetors need to be rebuilt so often. Carburetors are pretty easy to live with if you have some knowledge on them; use good fuel, store it correctly if you are in a colder environment. Fuel injection is easier to live with but these bikes are low maintenance.
