Hi, nice bike, I own one of these. I have a 1977 model. As you know the S&S carb is not factory. I did notice you are missing the end plugs for the grips and the rubber plug for the cam cover. I Have extra cam cover plugs. These are hard to find. The bike you have also has the 49 state mufflers not the California ones. The points cover is not original but it is a gorgeous bike and the average person wouldn't know certain things to look for but a collector does. Great job on the bike and I enjoy your videos, esp. with Berry. Take care

Hi ,In response to Caribman I will say this about the XLCR up for auction . This is a beautiful bike and in no way am I saying that it isn't . My point is that if you are prepping a bike to go up for auction to the highest bidder , one should take the time to get as many things as correct as you can . The cost of the two parts I pointed out are minimal but make a difference in the overall visual perspective .S&S carbs are good carbs and I have used them in the past , one currently on my 82 FXR . I am a collector but I ride all of my collection switching out throughout the year . I rode my XLCR weekly this year and enjoyed ever mile . One only assumes that a collector doesn't ride their motorcycles but some do , my Thunderhead bike as well as the others in my fleet . Take Care

My best friend bought one of these down here in Texas around the early 1990s and I got to ride it. He is gone and the bike is gone away to a new owner some where. I really like the Willy G designed bikes like the Sturgis FXR and there was also a Willy G bike I think around 1980 that is very rare, I had another friend that had that bike also it was maroon in color and I believe it was a FXR also. Thanks for the video and the memories.

Another Willie G masterpiece underappreciated at the time. If HD was serious about the new revival lineup, make a new XLCR 1200 "revival' and send the Sportster out on a high note. BAD ASS BIKE!

You mention drag strip times and compared it to KZ1000. Think the king of the 1/4 mile at about that time was yamahas xs11. It was a bit homely (unless you opted for the special) and shaft drive so theyre usually overlooked in favor of the kawi, cbx, or gs1100.
