Great looking bike. And in just a few years, it morphed into different models, including the Z1R and turbo. That mill was also used by Don Vesco in his LSR streamliner after he switched from Yamaha’s two stroke TZ engines to Kawasaki.

A beautiful example of an iconic bike. I would have one alongside a Katana in my museum too if I had one. I loved them in the day and still do. They were probably the coolest bike going around at the time. All the cool people in my town road them anyway. If you want to see a bunch of them getting ripped then watch an Aussie movie called Stone. It’s great stuff. Nice work guys.

A guy I knew named Charles Wayne had one of these when i was a kid in the 70's. It had Kerker pipes on it. I was about 8 or 9. He would come by on that bike and the look and sound of it scared me to death. Loved it. Just beautiful bikes. Many thanks.

Even today, if you see one of these amongst a bunch, of bikes, even modern sports, this will draw the most attention. I rode the first ones released as working in a bike shop at the time and there was NOTHING on the road to complete with this for years after this was released. I would even have one today, they were about £1000 on release, today, sky’s the limit 😱

Was 12yo when these came out. Use to see groups of guys riding these...so imagine 10 Z1s all riding in a group....yes the sound. Always remember back then that quite a few girls bought and rode these bikes too. I remember sitting at a set of lights and this small petite young girl rode up next to us on one, with her tight jeans and pony tail out the helmet, she couldn't put her feet flat on the road and had to lean the bike over and stand on one foot tippy toe. Just goes to show, girls were wild in the early 70s.

Great bike, I had a 1976 900LTD, remember that distinctive engine sound. It had Windjammer fairing that started flopping around at 100MPH. When I took that off could stick my head right down on the speedometer and hit 130

The Honda 750 was first seen by the public on 25 October 1968 and went into production in 1969. I think the Kawasaki 900 went into production in either 1972/3. I owned a 1970 Honda 750 K0 model and a 1978 Kawasaki Z1000. Miss both those bikes today.

Beautiful bike I had a 1985 ZL 900 eliminator water cooled shaft drive velocity stacks with F1 pipes black I believe it was a 6-speed. Let me tell you it handled like a 125 and you could bring the RPMs up in the nines scary fast thanks for the memories 🧔🏻

I bought my new 1974 Yamaha RD 350A and found that none of my friends bikes could keep up to it up to about 60 mph. That includes all the Harley's Honda 750's or anything else for that matter. Then one of my friends bought this bike. First time I raced him it wasn't even close. He just left me in the dust. Amazingly fast bike.

I bought my '73 in early '74. Frame # 00423 Engine # 00336. Best we can figure it came off the production line the second week of September in 72 Currently having the bike gone through and the motor completely rebuilt.

I love these but I was so happy my 2004 f4i had all the brakes I needed traffic backed up in a spot not normally doesn't and I almost ran out of space, no old bike would of stopped that quick. 40k miles on my 2004 cbr600f4i and I'm never selling, daily 40 mpg 11s 1/4 I have had since 900 miles on the odometer since 2008.
