I had an ‘86 Quad Sport in ‘89, I really liked it. I rode it until it started wearing out, it never caused me any major problems. It was lighter than a 250X or a Mojave, 309 lbs dry as I recall. The lever on the left side is a decompression lever that makes it easier to kick start.

Mine has an electric start but its been sitting for the better part of 10 years, in Michigan. so its gonna be a bit of a challenge to get running. But I will have a lot of fun doing so. I took off the seat and looked at the intake and found 4 dead mice and a full nest. That's gonna be real hard to clean out.

I have an 86 quadsport. Only a couple small cracks in the plastics, one small tear in the seat. Got it for free. These quads are so torquey!! I just swapped mine over to DC on the lights with a battery so it can run brighter LED lights. Great quad!!! Everyone needs an LT230S

I had one of them it was a great quad until it seized the rod bearing when I was side hilling in the pit lol repaired it and got a bunch more years out of it! Love your videos!

I was 13 years old in 1986, my dad told me if I got all A in school he would get me a quad my whole neighborhood had them. So I got all A and my dad got me a 230 quad sport I had the baddest quad on the block. Rode the shit out of it for 5 years, great machine 👍

My first ever machine was an 87 quad runner 230 my dad got it for free from a buddy of his that had it sitting outside for 15 years under a wood tarp, put a new piston and rings in her, some new tires, cleaned the carb and changed the air filter, new battery and she was running like a top! I had that quad my whole childhood and owe it to the LT230 for getting me addicted to riding, I’m 22 now and still love it just as much as the day I first hopped on that quad.. I rolled her a time or two and the ball joint decided to pop out on me while riding one time, and I even ran over my grandpas new wife with it (true story.. she was on the back and her foot got stuck in the tire and ripped her off I ran right over her ribs luckily nobody in the family really liked that crazy ass woman or pops would have beat my ass haha) unfortunately it got sold a few years back but thanks for bringing back memories Ken 😬

Need to put the stock rear tires on it,and if you don't keep the rear swing arm bears changed the chain will pop and bust the side case. . I rode mine every Sunday from 11am until 5 or 6 the next. Morning for 6 years . I had 3 cylinder bores with new pistons ready to go with a stage 3 cam.

I have an 85’ that I bought brand new in San Diego. Still has the original front tires. I put a set of Hole Shots on the rear and handles much better than the original balloon style tires. All original and runs like new still.

The quad sports liked to break the steering stems right above the top bushing. The swing arm bearings used to go out alot on the quad runners, not sure if the same on quad sports.

I had an 88 quadsport 230 that thing was quality made for sure! I don't remember them having a rack, and mine had the smaller racing tires in the back. A few friends had the 2 stroke quad racer 250's but they were always wrenching on them....not very reliable at all. I'll take reliability any day.

OMG … how do you find this stuff ? I bought one of these new to PLOW my driveway ! Only difference was mine was the 230H which was electric start only. I beat the living snot out of ours until finally decided not to run anymore. That was almost 25 years later … LOL … you just cant kill those things ….
