Well Indonesians originally came from the Philippines. Central Philippines and Southern was settled through back migration from Borneo pre colonial times by various groups and remnants of defeated kingdoms. My tribe was no exception…

for a more detailed explanation: the background music is a kulintang- a metalophone musical genre instrument that has roots traceable to Indonesia and the surrounding malaysian areas (sulawesi, eastern kalimantan, etc.) basically, the musical scales (pelog, and slendro) are very Indonesian and are actually the same scales used in Gamelan ensembles in Java, Bali, Sumatra in Idonesia.

Basically in the other provinces of Mindanao those sounds are played from a Bamboo guitar. A Bamboo pole cut in half with stied strings around the edges like rubberbancds the echos of the sound makes that musical tone.

How sad that you need the video. I have a video of the Silong sa Ganding but there's a problem with the acoompanying audio. Why don't you try searching using the keys "sironsagandi" or sirunggagandi because the dance is also called that way.

Hi. Please dont add "Tribal" dance to the title. That word gives it a negative connotation whereas in reality the Kappa Malong-Malong is a very slow and elegant (and educational) Maranao dance :)
