Join me for today's Illinois farm vlog, food plot and land management video as I finally get to try out my recent purchase of a home made disc-chisel plow on a recently cleared area of trees. Today I will complete my welding fabrication process of converting this chisel plow implement to imatch quick attach. Of course the Kioti RX7320 pulled this thing like a champ! This plot is an area that I recently cleared from thick hardwood trees, so it has been a challenge getting it all cleared and working on getting it good enough to plant a new fall food plot in this spot! Thanks for joining me today, if you enjoy our content please hit the Like button and share it to help us grow our KZbin channel and country living/land management family! Also consider subscribing to our channel to follow all kinds of Kioti tractor projects like this, our Illinois and Kentucky land management projects, food plots, duck ponds, wildlife conservation projects, wildlife habitat improvement projects, wildlife photography, our Kentucky farmhouse rehab project, Bobcat mini excavator projects, deer watering holes, building roads, fixing pond dam leaks, Bobcat T650 CTL skid steer projects, DIY red cedar projects, DIY rustic barn wood projects, DIY landscaping, and much more country living adventure. Thank you. Kapper Outdoors, living the dream, one acre at a time.

I'm a 69 year old retired design engineer that owns a RX7320 and does quite a bit of land clearing in my area. The discs appear to be at a 0 degree angle to the direction of travel and the angle can not be adjusted. They just roll along the surface keeping the chisels from penetrating as deep as they should. The discs should be set at 15-20 degrees to the direction of travel so that they can cut into the soil and turn it over. The chisels should be in front of the discs, I'd get my money back. I clear land efficiently doing it this way. First I use a H.D. (1400 lb.) root grapple to remove the brush including roots, I noticed you were having trouble with the roots left in the ground. Then I rip the ground using a 5 shank chisel plow to a depth of 16"-18". Last I use a 8' double gang disc with 22" discs. To get maximum penetration in a single pass I've added 600 lbs. of weight to it, don't worry the 7320 can pull it.

Well I find that this unit does a much better job than my last 7 foot disc with the angles like you mention. The front discs were meant to be straight by design to cut things like corn stalks, bean stalks, sod, weed beds, etc. So for that purpose it does a great job. I don't understand one thing though, why people feel that a disc can't cut rolling straight but it can cut at an angle? That does not make sense to me at all. At an angle it does 'rip' a little more, but to say that it doesn't cut at zero just makes no sense. It also sounds like you have many different pieces of equipment to run in stages. I get that. But this one took all of my ground and made it plantable (after a heavy drag) all by itself. Just different experiences I guess, but this cuts WAY better than a double gang disc.. I had one. Thanks for the input though and best of luck, appreciate it.

Hey Joe, I noticed in the video that the equipment dealer had a fullsize farm chisel plow if you decide you want a bigger one. Thats the one I would recommend. You can always turn a couple of the chisels up if your tractor struggles to pull it. The disk blades are keeping the shanks way too shallow on that virgin ground. You really should try it on previously planted ground to see how much better it works.

Yeah I noticed it needs some tweaking, more weight for one and go from there, I'm not a farmer but I'm a welder that has fixed many farm implements, before I repair something I ask the owner what it does and how it does it otherwise you shouldn't be fixing it. Over 30 years has taught me that you can't fix it if you don't know how it works

I don't know Clark, it was easily turning over 6 inches of dirt. And with the hydraulic top link I can dig those chisels in deeper yet if I want. It really is doing a great job. Stay tuned for the next vid to see how it destroyed my fall plots (like you say in your comment). It really did a heck of a job!

disagree. They are very sharp, cutting discs, so they are cutting down several inches into the sod, loosening it up for the chisels. It is working perfectly.

This is just a thought I was watching the performance of your new implement it looks like your disk is keeping your Rippers from digging in the soil I would think I would put them in the front then the disc in the back on a sharper angle for it to break up the ground a lot better as well to penetrate it a lot faster just a thought. I have a 12 foot Krause disc chisel that I bought for scrap price. I think this winter I am going to cut it down so I can pull it with my 5075E Deere. The 12 foot is a bit much in my dirt for a 75 horse tractor but a cut down will work just fine. I quit farming but love to deer hunt and do food plots too. Thanks for the inspiration.

Honestly, wouldn't it had worked better if the ripper was in front and the disc gangs were in the rear so as to adjust the pitch of the gangs for the desired contour . Your front gangs are in travel mode the LEAST aggressive cut. Good idea, but it might be backwards. Just my opinion, can't hurt to experiment. Good luck, nice camera work!

Kapper, I've been watching and enjoying your channel all summer. I'm a science teacher and cattle and hay producer down in TX, and I ran across your channel earlier this summer when I was researching Kioti tractors. I've been searching off and on this year for a used tractor to complement our hay and cattle operation. Thus week I ran across a pretty good deal on a low hour 2015 Kioti RX7320 similar to the one you recently bought. I'm seriously considering purchasing it. After having used your Kioti a couple of months how pleased are you with it? We have run JD, CNH (International Harvester, too), Zetor, and Kubota over the years. I'm looking for a loader/ brush clearing tractor to complement my older Deere haying tractor. Are the hydraulics as good as I hear? Also, we get a lot of 100 degree days down here in the summer when we are doing tractor work. How well does the HVAC work on the Kioti cab? I've heard of some bad experiences with Mahindra ACs, and I had some bad experiences with older Zetor and Kubota ACs. There isn't anything much more frustrating than a cab tractor with a poor AC system. Thanks for posting videos for us outdoor and farming folk. I look forward to your response. Tough looking disc-chisel by the way.
@kapperoutdoors
@kapperoutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the nice info and joining us! The Kioti is a solid machine! I was having trouble with my John Deere cab because once it hit about 90, with high humidity, the AC just could not keep up. Even took it in and had them test it and they said it was working to full performance. But the Kioti's stay icy cold no matter the heat! I don't know if they get away with something different on the 'eco' stuff or what, but they have solid AC!! Now, I haven't used the heat much so I can't really say on that, but the venting system is also nice because you can select what vents you want to blow AC! Highly recommend Kioti, and if you can get a good deal on a near new one, I recommend it! Thanks, let me know what you decide! Take care

Are you using the draft controls to put down pressure on your implement ?
@js2743
@js2743 3 жыл бұрын
There's no down pressure
@kapperoutdoors
@kapperoutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
There is really no 'down' pressure, except for the hydraulic top link, which can put a little down pressure on the rear of the implement. But the draft can help from it coming 'up' when it encounters wavy ground. But I haven't mastered it yet, I've been testing with the tiller, which I think it will be more useful for. Maybe one of these days when I have 'extra' time I'll dig back in the manual on the draft control. Thanks.

disagree. First of all 8 to 9 inches is pure clay. As it is set it is cutting 4 to 6 inches easily, which is just perfect to keep turning over the dirt. No problem with that.

Go ahead and order some solid bar long enough to go through both holes and engage quick connect. Those welds won't last forever. When they go you'll have what you need to only fix it once. Maybe just cut the two channels loose to fit the quick connect spacing and be down with it and no cantelevered pin that will bend.
@kapperoutdoors
@kapperoutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Problem is, a solid longbar won't work because the hole is about 1 inch and the Class 3 quick attach is much larger.

@cherylatblackcrowprimitive3682
@cherylatblackcrowprimitive3682 3 жыл бұрын
What everyone is trying to tell you is those blades are designed to run at an angle. What you need is a flat colter that will penetrate deeper and not hold the chisels up. Nothing wrong with the tool just running disk blades instead of colters. Please look at the pictures you posted, none of them had disk blades all had colters. What you have will work but not as good as a straight colter that will penetrate the ground deeper. Again look at the pictures the colters were polishes all the way to the axles. You are disagreeing with people that have years of experience with this type of equipment and are just trying to help you.

I agree, not really disagreeing with many, just opening up discussions. Many different kinds of implements have specific objectives. In hindsight, perhaps a set of straight disks might have worked better. But hey, life is a constant teacher! Thank you I appreciate it.
