I am 99% sure that the third game will also be a downer ending. Or at the very most something bittersweet like reuniting IN HEAVEN or RIGHT BEFORE DEATH... but this is that kind of story and it is beautifully written for such a sad purpose

There's only one ending I know of that ends on a nice note where Reiji is reunited with Toko. The other endings, including the canon true end, are very sad and broke me to the point I would not touch the VN for a long time. I believe that a VN that can have such a significant emotional impact like that is truly a work of art. Incredibly well written, heart wrenching story, with a melancholy soundtrack like this to boot. Phenomenal, I'm glad there is a sequel out and another otw. Good job IG.

Поле прохождения этой новеллы, несколько дней ходил с таким странным, неописуемым чувством, опустошонности что-ли. Мне новелла очень понравилась. До и поле неё в новеллы не играл, хотя наверное стоит. Вот бы кто нибудь что нибудь порекомендовал.

Just as you say, this game is for adults and contains H-scenes and gruesome CGs. Ostensibly, this is about solving a murder in 1956 Tokyo, but it is also about enjoying the atmosphere, including the background and music. You can buy the HD version on Steam for cheap now, so you don't have to worry so much about it. That's what I think at least.

@@1993gtx I didn't finish both the game and its sequel (1-2 endings left out) simply because of amount of frustration of not being able to do anything but watching girls die. It's just so cruel of IG.

The First Episode is slow burning but it's understandable because the nature of the investigations and the relationships building between Reiji, Touko, other girls in the school, and other characters. It works for knowing who is the suspect and what are the motives. The relationship with Touko and the lost of fiancee also further strength the conflict in Reiji. In Second Episode, the story is kinda still slow burning but not as slow as KNS 1. The slow part is in the backstory of Masaki iirc. The resolution of KnS 2 cleared The KnS 1 with a slap in the face for reader but also creating more questions. And talking about Last Episode, i like the pacing in the Last Episode. It's not as slow as KNS 1 and KNS 2 backstory. First half of Last Episode is filled with more than 1 case iirc (there are 3 ) and they are well developed until the resolution. 2nd half of Last Episode is kinda slow burn and until the final moment they still in a good pace. I really love the true and grand ending and it's actually foreshadowed from 2nd OP Movie Song lol. About the gory aspect, modern anime medias and modern VNs also included gory element and the audience kinda okay with it. KnS 1 is very brutal in both description of violences and the visuals. but in KnS 2 the graphical violences are kinda toned down (still gory tho). The last episode is kinda unique. The brutality is on par with KnS 1 but Sugina Miki is going "softcore" to not show genitals, but the body cuts, chops, bruises, bloods are still there. The killer in last episode basically making a human painting/sculptures. And for KnS as a whole, they're not just for a shock value like, you know, the ddlc. The gore is part of the game because you're a police and detective assigned to investigate, you need to go through it. So yeah, they are also the challenges for me. About the depressing part, yeah i fucked up for a month after clearing KNS 1 and 2. I played both in quick succession so yeah, the depression is accumulated. But the story of Reiji overcome the paranoia, obsession, and depression is the main point of this title and what is interesting is Reiji is not supposed to be kind of superhero or magical power man. He just a very capable man and well resourced in his work but with huge trauma to overcome from his past (Touko and his Fiancee). How he walk through the "punishment" for him from hell, purgatory, and finally into the paradise like what Dante's did through in Divine Comedy. That what hooked me in to this entire story.
