At the risk of sounding like a stupid fanboy: It is always a joy to watch your videos. Your style is elegant, fluid and yet brutally effective in creative ways like nothing else I've seen before. Ive seen few others that have a similar understanding of motion, balance and body mechanic as you do, but none could exploit it as fluently. I wish I could learn it. I just fear ending up like that guy at 6:12...

Guro Maul, I am a guro in Kali and Pencak Silat and I admire and respect your mastery and skill level. I've noticed quite a few people on here that want to argue with you about where Silat is from. They don't realize that this art is indigenous to many regions. Keep up promoting the arts brother for you truly have a talent for it. Much respect.

Real fights are when people are constantly moving, clinching, pushing and grappling. Not standing around.
@persada59133 жыл бұрын
Training requires patience! When you have mastered the techniques at least you'll be confident enough to face off your aggressors when the time comes when you need it. Of course there's no guarantee for the outcome but depends on how good you are. Silat isn't rigid. The basic concepts I learnt from this art is spatial awareness, your attacker's posture, break your attacker's balance, attack envelope, take downs, pressure points, etc; these are keys or fundamentals of Silat. Why do you assume when people constantly moving, clinching, pushing and grappling, Silat can't handle. Silat had been used on the battleground in ancient times and you should know by now already a battleground is always chaotic and people keep moving and swinging their weapons but still knowing and be able to use Silat on battlefield can make the difference for your chance of survival! I advice you don't underestimate Silat or any martial arts for that matter.

Marzuqi Muhammad don't bullshit. I'm a banjar and my family style silat is for assassination, there is no bullshit do wrong and you forget the jurus. Silat is made for killing only commercialisation of most silat preach that shit about and they mix it with religion.
@malayfellaz6 жыл бұрын
Marzuqi Muhammad Marzuqi Muhammad your ancestor and mine are not the same. What made you think I am butthurt, the way you generalise silat is what piss me off, that is all. A combat art is use for war and to kill people, but commercialise silat said it is for self defense. Probably what piss me off is the fact that you believe in silat magic of forget the jurus when doing evils that is all
@MrKidzDesignarc6 жыл бұрын
then just fuck off man. you said yourself our anchestor is not the same,,then you believe what you believe in,, and i believe what i believe in. do you expect what we believe is the same. and you want everyone to believe what you believe in? dont be such an idiot. it piss you off and its not my problem.
@navigatingel72156 жыл бұрын
Marzuqi Muhammad you are correct in what you said I am a PeSilat and I study the old style indigenous to Sumatra. My guru always reminded me that anger is blindness this is truth! even in his choice of words you can tell his knowledge comes from darkness which has dominion over the mind and movements of which will lead to blindness and lack of aesthetic expression due to dark intentions which come from the lower self! He can kill one who lacks the knowledge to defend against superior skill! However if he runs across a true man of power who is not a man of violence but moves in the light using geometry in step and oneness in the flowery movements of the hands as they are married to the feet and a pure heart chakra vibrating on a higher frequency it is at that moment his Silat (darkness)will cause his own destruction Peace and Love your words were well over stood by me and taken for high value thank you for standing up for the true meaning of Silat it is inspirational and deeply heart felt! Lol he will forget his jurus because his anger will blind him! A blind man will always defeat himself in many ways!

He’s cutting through tissues that’d be vital in keeping the other guy alive, like with that first disarm, now I understand it because he’s hitting the forearm flexors and retractors and therefor “defanging the snake”, to which he can move past the arm and target the pectoral, the carotid, the trachea, the muscles in the neck, etc, and he flows well from attack to attack. Impressive.

Guro Maul, You've so many amazing techniques and it's very obvious to anyone who has been a devoted martial artist that you have put 10s of thousands of hours into what you do. What you don't ever how in your vids is doing your techniques on a partner that is providing resistance, e.g. not leaving their arm in a mannequin pose after they throw their technique. I wish you would consider making videos in that vein, as opposed doing a myriad of techniques on an otherwise stationary static opponent, but someone how is trying to counter you or give you SOME SORT of resistance. I fully understand why they are not and I do not doubt that you can handle such an opponent. Simultaneously, it would make your vids that much better and WAY more believable to the scrutinous eye! - With respect.
@mattjennings58646 жыл бұрын
can't you see the guy who pretended the attacker did multiple strikes and for the sake of training Maul deliberately use slow-mo so that the attendee can see clearly! I suggest you watch again CAREFULLY the guy did double/multiple strikes! Slow down your video a bit if you miss it! and by the way, the strikes was not preconceived but spontaneous!

Don't waste your time watching this video because to get to this guy's level takes you a life time (I heard Guru Maul had started Silat from a tender age, 8 years old if I'm not mistaken). Does he look like a statue to you?! Because the knife guy was actually moving and gave the master multiple strikes. You need to check your eyes including your brain because obviously your brain is too slow to process high speed frame rate I guess your vision is less than 2.4 frame perseconds!🤣
