Karamushi (ramie) fiber extraction

Early in the morning, it is still cool and mountains are surrounded by mist. I start harvesting Karamushi (ramie).
Hearing streams babbling, bugs chirping and birds tweeting, I concentrate on the plant and its silky fiber.
What I love the most is the moment I pull the stems or peel strips out from the flowing water. I feel good with my hands in the chilly water, it cool me down in hot and humid climate in summer.

The previous ramie video i watched, looked like they used the stem of the plant and this the bark, can you use bark and stock?

Fiber is in the bark (phloem), the skin of the stem. The core of the stem (xylem) is not used for fiber production as far as I know. It is used as the base of the thatched roof in some areas in Japan (not in the area where I learned ramie fiber extraction process).

@@umitomk880 oh they were definitely whacking the inside of the plant too, not just the bark...hence the confusion. Seems they can use the whole plant.
