Karas Pen Co. Ink V2 Review

Diamine Skull & Roses is a limited Ink, german exklusiv wich is produced für 2 years. The guy who created this ink is a friend of mine, he is the german distributor vor Diamine, Sailor, Visconti, Pineider and some other Brands. He is a big rock & roll fan and named this ink for his favourite band "Guns and roses", so thats how the Ink name was inspired. Great Video :-)

I like everything about the 2.0 except I prefer the older semi-hooded grip section on the original

The new version is a great improvement over the previous one. I have four of them and bought a blue one after the new version was released. Love it.

I love what Karas does, even though I am not a metal pen fan, but I have been drooling over the Vertex! This pen lent itself well to your closeups--beautiful! Thanks David.

Karas Kustoms INK pens are my all-time favorites. I have 3 V1s (well, not the original Kickstarters, but the iteration before this new V2). All have medium steel nibs, and I just adore them all! Superb nibs and I love the heavy weight (I have a variety of metals).

In the Pheonix megapolis the various cities have merged together, so driving on city street you can't tell where Phoenix becomes Tempe, Tempe becomes Mesa, Mesa becomes Gilbert, and Gilbert becomes Apache Junction, and that is only cities east of Phoenix, as similar thing applies to the west, north-west, and north-east. Will take you well over an hour, or more like over ninety minutes, on the freeway doing 75+mph to cross all the way, and whole lot longer in rush hour.

Thanks for the great review, David. I had considered Karas Kustom before, but decided to order one. I considered the Ink V2, but ended up ordering the Al 13 - Decograph Special Release in red and grey with a 1.1 stub nib. I will let you know how it works out. Thanks again!

I have mixed feelings about Karas. I bought their Signature Decagraph when that came out and rather enjoy it. I also bought I believe it was the 2015 version of the Ink and liked a lot about it -- except that it was forever unscrewing itself (both the cap and the section). When I read about the changes/improvements for the V2 I was thrilled to see a fix! I reached out to them hoping there'd be some retrofit washer for V1 but alas, no luck so my V1 sits in storage.

Thanks for your usual helpful and great video. In general I have never been a fan of metal pens, or sections for that matter. However, have always thought I should have a Karas in my collection so this is probably the time. I really like the squared off threads, the cool new nib and the addition of the O ring for cap safety. The only pocket inkcidents I have ever had were with high end all metal pens who’s caps or sections have spun off while clipped to pockets. (Lamy Dialog 2 & MB Starwalker, both rollers.) I have found these pandemic days that all metal pens have the advantage of being able to be washed down with soap and water, even hand sanitizer after a hectic outing of drive thru banking and prescription pick up. Lol. Thanks, now comes the hard part, deciding on color options.

Solidly built and a good performer, but a word of caution: it does not post and it is a bit small if you have large hands.

I think I have the version 1, but the cap comes loose easily. Since watching this video, I added an O-ring (Platinum Preppy size) and I think it will solve the loose cap problem.

I gotta say I am not a fan of nibs that are laser engraved the ink tends to stay in those tiny crevices more than a normal stamped nib

I have their Copper Fountain K pen. Quite lovely 🙂 this one looks good too! (Probably even better...but I like my Fountain K)

If I owned this version of the Ink I would actually use it. Mine has the gloss black grip that is too slippery so I have to hold on the threads that are too sharp. I never use it which is a shame since it has a very good titanium nib. I would consider buying this improved one and I think the price is reasonable.

Great review! Question for you. I'm looking to get a nice "forever" fountain pen and can't decide between the INK V2 and the Diplomat Aero. I like larger grips and lighter weight do to arthritis. What would you recommend, or would it be something else entirely?

Hi, i recalled you mentioned a pen which the cap has self aligning magnetic cap, and you mentioned the error proof Toyota methodology. I was trying to find back the video. Hoping you can shed some light.
