Technically true, but the version in the film was the original Karate Champ, which was a single-player game, simulating advancement through karate tournaments. The version featured here is the "updated" PvP edition, which I believe is the first martial arts fighter of its kind (i.e., 2-player simultaneous fighting).

In the sixth round, it looks like they are fighting on the side of a highway, near a Denny's. I guess the tournament organizers didn't have the same budget as the folks who run the Street Fighter matches.

a bit late for comment since the age of your vid, but.... I see you worked out the double flip for the champ level. for the first three or 4 levels Jump side kick > front flip > back roundhouse will work well. Then for the later levels up to 10th...ish (depending on difficulty setting) instead of back roundhouse the lunge punch works well, unless AI does a lunge punch in which case you can still get away with a back roundhouse. This will help push the high score to over 250,000 points. I used to average around 256,000 back in the day.
