For those uninitiated into Daito Ryu criticising this art, they grab the wrists, hands, arms , body, during attack to prevent a samurai bushi from deploying his blades. So Daito Ryu comes from armed feudal era. Anyone visiting the castle court was required to disarm and court guards were only ones permitted weapons. So visitors seeking to attack had to disarm the court guards first. Thus they siezed the limbs to prevent drawing of the blade while another would disarm the guard of his weapons. So Daito Ryu is designed for such seizing attacks as well as defend against knife attacks & jiujitsu empty hand attacks to vitals. It's not an unarmed street brawling art. It's not for empty hand dueling. They demo kneeling because it perfects technique since standing lends more leverage. Also kneeling samurai inside the court were armed and had to respond to attacks both kneeling and standing. Hope this helps.

@christophermckenzie7167 Yes, it's fake. Everyone has debunked these effortless throws. It's not physics or grappling

@@anti1training it's not. Calling them all actors is just a wacky conspiracy theory. You should try it out.

Really impressive! One can tell by their reaction that this is not bullshido. Thanks for showing this art! Edit : Also one of the most funny episode so far. The narration was like a Dragon Ball anime sometimes.

Not everybody can manage that with so little movement. It looks like he not only manipulates joints, but connective tissue (fascia) and nerves as well. I wouldn't attack him even with a club or blade, he'd simply take it. Great video.

@@anti1training Have you ever taken Aikido or Jujitsu? This was of course just a demonstration. They were cooperating and weren't trying to kill each other. Reality involves knives or them trying to grab him to break his limbs or choke him to death. You weren't expecting to see that were you? You ever been put into a wrist lock or arm lock? In reality you would hit the person first to really hurt them, this is called the "distraction". And once you've put the lock on him, it's usually followed by a violent throw, another strike, or a nasty joint break. You weren't expecting to see that were you? Civilized demonstrations like these are really the only way to show the power of these moves without putting someone in the Hospital. You didn't really want to see that happen did you? So I'll ask again, have you ever practiced Aikido or Aiki-Jitsu, or Daito Ryu? Probably not if you think this was fake. Oh, silly me, you were Trolling me weren't you? Good one.

@@anti1training This could've been fake but there are several moves just like these that are real and looks like magic when executing.

@hakkam7082 These are acting though. You can't overpower and throw someone without effort, by swiping.

@lsporter88 I'm a grappler. My experience, is wrestling, BJJ and now Judo. You can not overpower someone without effort, using a swipe. They are acting. They're not going to go to the hospital from a demonstration. That's not how martial arts or physics work.
"Why grabbing hands?" Thinking and answering the question by yourself is part of your shugyo(training). Kata(form) is not just skill set, it's way of trainning.

The real attacker is the one getting grabbed. What is left out is the one getting grabbed is going for their imaginary gun and they are so you can continue going for the gun and then use it on the person grabbing. This stuff is hidden to make it look friendly but that's the real reason

Fascinating!🤯🤪💪🏻✌🏻😎 Until once you actually learn a technique and actually throw someone, this is definitely hard to believe! I KNOW, I’ve learned things since I was young, some traditional, but a lot of “other”!😎💪🏻 I trained under Fumio Demura in California for some time and am proud of that experience as well! RIP Sensi!🙏🏻✌🏻

He looks so sad like understanding how people around are so clueless... and throws them on the ground easily once again.
Police forces , prison guards, and bouncers all over the world disagree with you. But hey, I guess you know more than they do and have more experience than they collectively do from the last 75+ years. The fact that you claim to have practiced aiki (aiki *what*?) for 36 years and then go on to imply that it only works in static situations simply demonstrates that you are lying. You have no idea about daito ryu or aikido, or any of the derivatives of them.
