The toughest man in the world. It was an honor to have Shinjo sit on the testing board for my San Dan test.

I don't think people understand how strong they really are. The power of the mind and body of this awesome piece we have given our soul gets enough respect. It is easy to learn to be tough. And once you know you are tough.... well I don't have to explain.

I can't imagine this being done today by a typical martial artist unless 100% dedicated and supported by the art. The damage to the hands and feet would be debilitating over time. Can't imagine being able to use a mouse and keyboard without difficulty.

malikto1 Yes indeed, unless if you devote your entire life to this type of training you probably shouldn’t do this. In our modern times, almost everything is digital and if your fingers are broken or has a lot arthritis then you will have a difficult time.

I recently moved from Okinawa after studying Uechi-Ryu for a couple of years. I may be mistaken but one of the assitants in this video appears to be my sensei, his name was Kinjo-san. Can anyone confirm this?

It's just physics. The kinetic energy produced is proportional with the mass AND the square of the speed. E= 1/2 m v^2; energy is in joules, mass in kg, and speed in m/s. For a 1 tone car doing 30 mph (= 13.3 m/s), the energy is roughly 85 KJ. A fast karate punch can easily reach 100 mph. For a 5 kg arm, the energy is 17 KJ. But in karate we strive to use as much body weight as we can, in each technique. Ideally all of it! So if 5 kilos become 50, the energy becomes 180 KJ! Q.e.d.

Hi there, Great video of Shinjo Sensei! I am a student of Sensei Morio Higaonna and I run the IOGKF International newsletter for him. I have been trying to get my hands on the Hai Karate clip of Higaonna Sensei for some time now. Do you have any of it available. I would love to include it in our Free online newsletter, along with this one, with your permission. Thanks.

It took two kicks to break the three bats and the producers only showed the final kick in this clip but if you can do better prove it!

You clearly don't do a martial art because a basic rule in any martial art is to have respect for others, a simple principle which you don't seem to have grasped.

Does anyone have enough smarts in Maths to advise if that claim is true? Does his arm really develop the same power as a car travelling at 30 MPH? I would have thought the extra mass of the motor vehicle at 30mph would have far greater.
@duncanfisher29865 жыл бұрын
Absolutely right, Bill B. Force = mass x acceleration. Think how fast his hand would have to be going to generate the same force as a 3,000 lb car. Set these two equal to each other, as an equation, and the hand speed is easy to calculate ... and no hand can go that fast. Another way to think about it is how your hand would break if it were hit by a car at 30 mph. No hand would survive that.

170 kj not 180, sorry about the typo. These are rough calculations anyway.
