Does anyone know if the kick they do when they drop to the ground lying down? Is that a kick to the face or chest of the opponent? Thank you.

I see the bunkai, and it seems kick to the opponent chest
@stefanschleps87584 жыл бұрын
Its to the groin. From underneath an opponent's attacking kick. But each move in a form always has more than a single application. What do you see? Good luck.

Oh my dear good lord! What in the world is going on right here? The Lady starting it of is absolutely insane and sets the standard for the next two decades at least. The second man was also nearly brilliant, but had two to a maximum of three small uncertainties in his performance, although I found him better than the last. Nevertheless, all in all, three excellent shown Katas

I thought the first lady looked a little heavy looking for Unsu, and the jump kind of sorted backed me up on that. Normally she does a world class Gojushiho sho, so I wonder why she went with Unsu?
@KenpoKid777 жыл бұрын
Bill Blinky You know what, you're right. Having looked at it, I've gotta agree, her Gojushiho Kata is far better. Of course, in Shotokan, they do encourage students to select their favorite kata.

sassuki Challenges? What do you mean?
@BelloBudo0077 жыл бұрын
l suppose in life we've all gone for something that doesn't quite suit us, for a number of reasons such as the challenge, variety etc. Musicians do it a lot. Personally I think it's good to move away from your favourite kata and practice other kata, and then introduce those elements to your favourite kata, as a way of keeping it fresh. But to enter a serious tournament as a challenge? Hey why not eh?

In times of thin Bunkai, you can only motivate yourself through the practice of technically challenging exercises ;)

This Kata is not for her
@samueleriksson-np6xm6 ай бұрын
this is not her tokui kata. She usually does Go-ju-Shi-Ho Sho or Sochin. But the years she did unsu she had recently lost a child. Unsu is a big and powerful kata, and the meaning is "cloud hands" so to honour her child she did the kata. She wasnt aiming to win the tournament that year.

The execution of the forms is good. But IMO their kiai needs more work. At best these emanate from the thoracic cavity. If not the throat. But should originate from the hara. In the last few years I have seen excellent kime and kata many times. But not one time have I heard properly executed Kiai. Such a shame to watch kara te do slowly degrade this way. I hope other students will ask their teachers for deeper guidance on this technique. Peace.
