I think it's a mark of how special this guy is that I've never met him, only seen him in video, and I'm saddened by his passing. He seems genuine, humble, skilled and seems to have put a lot of effort into his teaching.

I trained with Sensei Chinen 5 times during the 3 years I studied Go Ju Ryu. He was unbelievably talented, skilled and humble. His commitment to the style and keeping the tradition going was his life.

As stated by Joe Joe. But also, yes, very much so. I started out at 4yrs old , taught by my Aunt and Uncle who taught for Master Aaron Banks. Growing up in Alphabet City during that time and thru various times in my life, I had to use my knowledge to defend myself and at times others. And thankfully I'm still here.

I don't believe so, many of the Okinawans were shorter people. So a lot of infighting and leg/mid section destruction.

there is no japanese sensei left in the UK , wado ryu senseis don't exist like it use to be when wado was first introduced , one sensei named vickerman offers courses that have no karate concept or techniques ,one student was so fat [black belt ] he could not do a mae geri , the course like many other senseis is used to collect some cash for hard up teacher that cannot teach .
