As a boxer who once did both Karate and Taekwondo; it is my humble believe that karate gives an overall better understanding about fighting. Doesn't mean that Boxing nor Karate is better than Taekwondo and that Taekwondo practionners doesn't deserve credits for their hard work. We are martial artists, not cringy fan boys. All martial arts are hard and requieres are surprising amount of discipline and dedication. Thank you Nat for your motivational and educational content.

The guy in a gray shirt knows his shit, he is efficient and calm and when he strikes, he will strike fast and hard. If it was a hard spar or a real fight, those kicks and punches will land at will. He is like lulling you then a sudden burst of energy, max Holloway style

@katanaboi8042
@katanaboi8042 2 жыл бұрын
Taekwondo and karate are not similar but it really depends on the style. In karate the stances are perfected and the kicks are not for show like the kizami mae geri keage kick is fast hard to block and once you get a nice supported leg and hip rotation it is insane in a fight and we do not use sparring gear so we can practice pain tolerance and flipping and doing tricks is not self defense it is to impress soccer moms I am not trying to disrespect but i would not use tkd in self defense and doing tons of kicks just makes you predictible
@amhawk8742
@amhawk8742 2 жыл бұрын
Not all karate guys do no gear sparring. All the dojos I've been at use gear. Every style outside of the goju ryu lineage (kyokoshin, ashihara, enshin) uses gear. Not practicing head punches makes you predictable some would say.

For some reason Taekwondo always seems to have an upper hand in sparring against karate. I think it’s mainly because the purpose of sparing is not to hurt your opponent and it’s easier to control the distance by throwing flashy acrobatic kicks. But in a real fight I think karate wins because it takes so much energy to throw these kicks all the time and karate is way more effective in doing damage and has more trips and takedowns + karate guys are usually better with their hands while Taekwondo is basically a kicking game and you can only throw body punches
