I trained some kyokushin and this is the only karate style other than kyokushin I might train after watching you guys flow and fight like this. Good stuff. Osu.

Always interesting watching Goju Ryu fighters spar. Very much the direct hands and lots of low kicks with slightly closer distance, almost a boxing distance. Very good to watch.

Good match, guys! I watch this video often to pick up new ideas when I feel my sparring hits a plateau. This time it's the clear and kick at 3:45 - very cool, great execution and awesome control on the part of the Shihan!

It would be awesome to spar with that teacher. I'd always show respect but also must show that his teachings are being well taught.
@BrisbaneGojuKarate11 жыл бұрын
@Randy Rancid thank you for your comments. Yes the Shihan is the one wearing the black and white. This is Shihan James Duggan of Goju Ryu Karate do Seiwakai in Australia. His control is incredible... Being that he can land a strike on you with enough power to teach your mind, train your body but not inflick injury. That in itself is a huge skill, all while avoiding your own students attempts to attack etc.

Aaahhh you're just scared of him because he's older and is your teacher. If you didn't know him and you were fighting for real you could do better... then again, so could he. Good fight. I think KZbin needs more kumite fights like this good video I gave thumbs up on all my accounts!
@BrisbaneGojuKarate13 жыл бұрын
Personally I wouldn't say 'scared', maybe 'overpowered' or 'without answer' which is affecting confidence. Shihan James Duggan is a master at projected energy and controlling his opponent. Great to watch, difficult to understand unless taking him on.

Emmanuel Reyes i like the sparring style, i prefer this way then to how taekwondo sport sparring is
@EmmanuelReyes10 жыл бұрын
I dont mind the sparring with enough protection and be professional about it. But only with simple gloves and me hitting you on your ribs and legs and hurting you in a way that you can't come to the next class, I don't find the purpose, but that's me. :-)
@michaelmckenna70510 жыл бұрын
Emmanuel Reyes well from what ive heard sparring in taekwondo in the oh do kwan back in the day was alot worse lol i like the full contact sparring with kicking the legs im very use to it sparring with muay thai practitioners and you really do get tougher after each session and a kick that would of effected me a year ago that would make me unable to stand i can pretty much shrugg off now
@gringdominicano318310 жыл бұрын
Emmanuel Reyes The purpose is that it simulates real fighting situation how are you supposed to know how to work your technique in real life if you've never trained for it in a live situation full contact situation.

This is not SeiwaKai Kumite from the time when Shuji Tasaki & Akio Takahashi were famous for their "Devastating" Kumite. The Kame is wrong, timing is wrong, no "Follow Through" on attack….. Or the technical ability that goes with it. Looks like they are training for UFC or MMA, not real fighting. There is so much missing. Warren Linney Founder of SeiwaKai in Australia.

Warren Linney this would actually serve to protect you in a real altercation. don't spread bullshit. -random person in America, unwilling and willing participant in many fights that didn't need to happen.
