Nice showing of a technique. I especially like that you instruct us to put your sunglasses on before painting. We beginners always end up not pushing the highlights enough, but with the sunglasses on, you have to really make it very bright to even see the model. Great trick.

Spatter may be caused by stopping or starting the paint before the air. When you are airbrushing don't stop the air, just keep the trigger down and pull back as needed for paint.

I'm working with a smaller tank and have found the spattering us from not allowing the tank to fill back up before spraying again. With the loss of pressure from continued use, it spatters.
@TylerProvick Жыл бұрын
@@SamLenzArtwork Interesting. I don't have a tank so I haven't experienced that.

Nice work. I think this would be called a multicoloured grisaille. This is exactly what I have been wanting to see applied to a miniature instead of the traditional grisaille. The result is great, definetely going to try this method out. 😀

Great result Sam. I've always regarded this technique as painting in reverse ie highlights and shading before mid tone. It's definitely a technique worth knowing and may work well on big figs with plate armour or large contrasting areas and something I will try as I am now becoming more adventurous with the airbrush. Thanks for sharing this. I wouldn't mind seeing a tutorial on how to paint black cloth; I can't remember if you did one previously. Thanks again.

Cheers man, glad you enjoyed it! This has me wanting to go back and make another project in this way, but use inks or something else to tone it out.

Whenever I try out a new technique like this, I usually end up feeling a little perplexed too; I've got my own preferred painting style/method already, and it's not like I'm just about to stop that and hard fork into a brand-new way of painting. So while I had fun, and all painting is practice...did I just waste my time? To answer this I try to find a way of incorporating an aspect of it into my usual flow. For example, my default now is to slapchop 90% of leather.
@SamLenzArtwork Жыл бұрын
For sure, it may not be the new way to paint but it adds to an artist's own methods. You have to stop and try new things outside of your comfort zone and I'm happier for it :)
