I’m a faithful Shia but do you really see nothing wrong with this? It is one thing to mourn and a total other thing to make a literal theatrical performance of our beloved Imam Hussain a.s martyrdom... Imam Ali a.s advises us in Nahjul Balagha The best way to worship Allah swt is not to make a show of it. This is just plain wrong. A performance is not mourning - learning about Karbala, crying on your own in private for no one to see, & living by the teachings and virtues of the Ahlul Bayt a.s is how you mourn and honour imam Hussain a.s, not this way. This is the reason Imam Al Mahdi a.s has not reappeared yet... he needs a mere 313 true Shia. Wallah if just 313 /300 million of us were actually Shia and not just Shia by name, he would be here now. Inshallah we are all guided to the truth & May Allah swt hasten his appearance

The brothers and I do a majlis every night in our house - with a shaikh & a handful of brothers & sisters. We hear the lecture & we mourn over Karbala. No, that is all YOU know. Millions of people around the world know more, clearly. Imam Hussain (as) protected the religion brought by his grandfather Prophet Muhammad (saw). The irony is that without his steadfastness you wouldn't even have the liberty or freedom to practice Islam as you know it, let alone have the audacity to comment asking "what did Imam Hussain (as) achieve".
