This is a jazz improv solo. Straight up. How she is dancing around the chords vocally is crazy and it's spiritual. You might not understand it but you can't deny this lady is gifted, almost supernatural.

She is a legend for a reason. She was not out of tune. And even if she did and came back she has the right to do that. I mean she has what she has and she got what she got because of her creativity. And also having the anointing along with what she could do with it, I say keep doing what you doing it. Karen is the best singer on this side of heaven. I don't care what no-one say. And if you want to get personal her and her sisters are the reason why there are a lot of artists out here. They inspired a lot of people. I mean look what their mom did.

My honest perspective. I've watched this video since it's been on here and carry so much from it. Her anointing ain't no joke at all. Yet, it's the spirit of a scorpio. There was no way in hell Karen was going to allow Melonie to get away with singing like she did and not do her Goodt singing afterward. #IsaidwhatIsaid. I've never heard Karen sing in such a high key throughout the duration of a song like this and still keep going the way she did. It's almost in a way reminiscent of when she sung with Kim and Yolanda on the BET Awards and activated her Super Soprano powers. I honestly live for singing like this. #thatsall

I don't understand what everyone is arguing about here.. I was actually there the night all this singing went down. For the record, Melonie was up first singing Center of My Joy. And yes, she was up and down the scale. I personally wasn't feelin it, but she really displayed talent. Karen came up midway through this midnite musical, and opened her segment with "Oh the Glory". Ripped is all I can say! This was my first time hearing her sing this song, and I was sold! I really enjoyed her.

LOL, I can honestly say that I have never seen her do this much all in one song. When the spirit moves you lose all control..and this case consideration lol

Melodious Melonie in the back 🔥
@okebaram15 жыл бұрын
You can tell that her voice is in better condition as far as range and flow is concerned. This may be due to her listening to Melonie. Sometimes I listen to a good singer and all of a sudden my voice has changed and my range has widened. And when your voice is better, it is easier to run. If you are already do runs, you will find yourself running more than usual and will have to deliberately control yourself. Being experienced, I know this was not a "I have to step up to Melonie" thing.

...which are days when they are instinctively curving better or when they are not hoarse. However, many times a singer would hear another singer singing with great curvature and it will subconsciously improve their own curvature temporarily. This is why I think Karen can go so high here, and the singer she listened to who influenced her curvature on this day was Melonie Daniels who sang just before Karen. You can watch the video of Melonie Daniels singing: youtube . com /watch?v=xomW5aoBCX4

Lashun Pace is a super soprano for life. She frequently, easily hits C6 when she wants to, and would even hold the note or manipulate the tone. The funny thing is she doesnt ususally sound like she can go super high until she does. Karen usually stops at Bb. Love them both. As for my diagnosis of the leap in Karen's range on this, read the response I made to nofefe89
@okebaram16 жыл бұрын
U mean how come she can go so high? Karen has always been a "super soprano" for all I know, but if u are asking why I think her range is unusually high here, well Karen's range, like all singers, is greater than what she actually uses because of how much she would have to "curve" her voice to reach the highest notes in her range. The way a singer "curves" his/her voice will affect how easy it is for him/her to go high, that's y singers have "good days",...

She hit B major after high C (B6) several times. Those were her highest belts here. I have heard Karen go as high as C#6 (2nd C-sharp after high C) in chest full voice, but usually she stops at Bb or A, so for her to be hitting these Bs here is amazing for even what you would expect from Karen... but I honestly feel sure that I know why her range is so high here.

The pianist playing for her is usually trained and can follow her. Even I can follow her since she doesn't completely change key. If she was singing backup with a group were she wasn't leading, you wouldn't even notice her. She knows when to use runs and when not to.
@TitusJackson16 жыл бұрын
I enjoyed certain aspects of the performance, not a favorite of mine. The range here is crazy and some of the runs, riffs, trills etc were HOT and some of them weren't......but nevertheless I enjoyed it overall
@okebaram14 жыл бұрын
@26MrSpence... personally I love this performance, and that I love somthing does not mean I don't also feel a sloppy/flawed layer to it. But you really cannot expect a singer or artist to be the same all the time and not have off or questionable days. But I know those who are not singers or instrumentalists sometimes don't realize this until they are in those shoes... so I thought I'd make that point :)

u are a bad singer when u don't have to hide your voice behind the music, i love karen here!
@okebaram14 жыл бұрын
@shay6261 Even if Mel sang first, that is NOT primarily why Karen sang like that. I happen to be GREAT at voice and singing analysis, and I know two things: 1.) she had a significantly different voice placement from her usual voice, giving her more range, control and flexibility 2.) From experience, if you've been doing hard runs with an inflexible voice and get a flexible-voice day, you will have to consciously control yourself not to run all over the song, much more than usual.
