Unless Massachusetts has a different law like so many other things they do differently in their court/legal system that doesn’t make sense. And I am referring more to the procedural things and how they run their court. Like not being required to give a reason for an objection, the confusion verdict forms, not allowing the attorneys to view the jurors letter themselves, The Judge not questing the jurors as to what charges they were hung on.

Read your own comment and then watch the report again. Or you can just read this. The jury had reached a verdict on 2 of the 3 charges, that being not guilty for both, but they could not reach a verdict the 2nd count. So what she said was true, you just misunderstood it. A jury has to deliberate on all charges and come to a verdict, they just can’t tell the judge that they find the person not guilty on 2 accounts and ignore the other charge. If all charges are not decided, then it is a mistrial. That is what she meant by “all or nothing”.

The jury could very well have A partial verdict on some of the counts, Acquitting her of those on which they have all 12 in consensus, With the basis for a Hung jury leading to mistrial would only be open that single count on which they were hung to retry her. The other 2, The judge would have to enter the verdict of not guilty, But no verdict on the manslaughter charge

If I was family of John O'Keefe, I would be furious with the investigators, DA and court for all the damage they have caused concerning this case. Whether they believe Read to be guilty or innocent, it shouldn't blind them to the damage that has been done by the State. I would never forgive these so called professionals for being so incompetent and unprofessional with a case that meant that much to me to be done right.

2:10 That might be true in Ma but this judge in TN same thing happened. Multiple counts the jury came bk hung, but the judge ask do you have verdicts on the other count. They did and they found him not guilty on 2 counts and declared a mistrial for the hung count

who is that woman the pink jacket at the end spewing nonsense? Of course a jury CAN acquit on some charges and be hung on others. It's called a "partial verdict." If there are multiple offenses (or defendants), the jury may return a verdict on fewer than all of the charges or defendants with the consent of the court. The court may accept a partial verdict and require the jury to continue deliberating on the remaining charges. If the jury is unable to reach a verdict on any of the remaining charges, the court may declare a mistrial ON THOSE CHARGES. The defendant may be retried on the charges on which the jury was unable to reach a verdict, unless doing so would violate double jeopardy. That's from the mass. government website!!
