I only heard about stencil butters recently. Really didn't think about trying it. I went to an independent scrapbooking store, and I passed it. I bought just one jar of it in Champagne Gold. Cost me $13.45 plus GST.

Good choice on the gold. You can mix colors into the gold to get different colors.

Oh my goodness these are stunning. I've never heard of stencil butters before, definitely need to get some.

the containers are not big, but they go a long way. I've had some for 2 years...they thickened a bit...( might be more user error- not closing properly etc) but they still work well

Karen...you're such an inspiration to feeding the blank page (previous video's) and continuing on to making beautiful art. What do you do with your pages once they're done. Do you frame them? Put in a book? Also, can this be done on canvas. ~ Blessings ~
@KarenBurchill Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Alana. Most of the pages I put back onto the coil and keep in a journal that I use as a sort of portfolio when someone wishes to commission art from me. They may pick what I created or based on what they like I get a better idea of what they want...colors, theme etc. I have framed some as well as gluing pages onto wooden panels. Anything I do on an art journal page can be done on a canvas, wood panel, canvas board ....you just have to adjust for the size. Hope you have a creative day. K

You’re always so helpful! Is using stencil butters with open stencils contraindicated? I can’t seem to create with them without bleeding underneath. 😕
@KarenBurchill Жыл бұрын
What do you mean "open stencils" . My prefered way to spread stencil butters is with a key card/gift card..as I have the least seepage that way. Taping down stencil also helps. K

I find I get bleeding underneath if I put too much pressure when applying. K
@lizcallahan2200 Жыл бұрын
I mean stencils like Dina Wakley’s Branches that are essentially one open shape rather than a pattern of smaller shapes like TCW’s . I used a card to apply the stencil butter, but it still bled outside the outline.

Hello, what would you recommend to Clean the stencils. Water does not seem to be enough for my stencils 😢

Soak stencils in or spray with Murphy oil soap mixed with dish soap and water.

i brought the stencil butter.. with the tcw stencils ...can i use this on regular cardstock? having problems with stencil butter seeping through stencil looking a mess using the palette knife..tfs
@KarenBurchill Жыл бұрын
I have not used it with cardstock but I've seen people do so in lots of videos. You may be using too much pressure...I find you need a very light hand. Try taping down stencil...and ensure stencil is right side up ( where etch mark is is the top...look for the number that's etched. I often use key card to apply modeling paste and stencil butter..Hope one of these work

I know this video is older but was just curious do they dry out even with the lid on? I’ve tried other brands and they always dried up even with the lid on stored in a air controlled environment.
@KarenBurchill Жыл бұрын
A great question. I have had the butters for over 2 years...you see how many I have....I have had a couple dry out during that time. I preface this with I am not overly cautious with how I clean the treads of the jar and making sure it's closed so it could have been user error. With one I added water to it and mixed it up and was able to restore it. Videos I've watched put out by TCW also recommend not putting excess back in the jar ( instead use it up and adding that to stash, closing jar during creation, cleaning treads so they close properly. The other thing is ...use our products...we like collecting them but don't always use them afraid of wasting them.
