Hi Karen. Are there predators in these areas? I am in Canada and the Alberta wild horses struggle to keep their foals alive. Not many make it because of the predators. I know all animals need to eat but it is heartbreaking to see a new foal only to see mom and dad without their baby not long after.

There aren't many predators. Maybe an occasional mountain lion or bear, but they have killed most of the predators off. That's why the gov't uses the birth control on the mares.
