What you can do when thrifting shoes is if they have a rubber sole or are anything but heels is to take the shoe and bend it back and forth and if it cracks then it has dry rot which is basically from sitting too long without being worn. Also I always wear some flats or other shoes I can take off easily and hold up the shoe I'm thrifting at the store against the shoe on I'm wearing so I can almost exactly where they'll fit without having to try them on. Hope this helps you with shoes. ☺️
